The Massachusetts Association of Community Health Workers (MACHW) is the professional association of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in Massachusetts dedicated to strengthening the workforce by creating and/or advocating for legislation and other policies that support the profession; advocating for recognition, integration, and fair compensation within the health and social service fields; and creating and supporting professional development opportunities for CHWs in the state and nationally. Under the guidance of an Advisory Board, MACHW works tirelessly on behalf of the estimated 6,000-plus CHWs in the state. MACHW was created in 2000 by a dedicated group of CHWs. In 2017, MACHW became fiscally sponsored by Health Resource in Action, Inc. (HRiA), to ensure sustainability and increase efficiency. Professional Experience We are searching for a full-time Senior Manager of Training & Communications for the Massachusetts Association of Community Health Workers (MACHW), a fiscally sponsored program of Health Resources in Action. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the CHW workforce in Massachusetts and nationally. The candidate will manage a broad range of training and communication strategies for our members. The Manager has expertise in two distinct areas. training development and communications. Training: They are an experienced trainer, able to develop content as well as deliver training programs, both in person and virtually. They understand principles of adult education and community health. The ideal candidate has been a CHW or has worked closely with CHWs. Communications: expertise in communications includes running effective campaigns, producing newsletters, and managing our website. They are responsible for MACHW's communication platforms, including our website and social media. The Manager will devote approximately 60% of the time developing, coordinating, and/or delivering training and 40% managing all MACHW communications. The salary range for the role $85,000 - $95,000. This position is remote with a preference for candidates based in Massachusetts. Duties & Responsibilities Though this is a remote position, travel across the state will require 2-3 times a week, depending on demand. This position may require some work outside of traditional business hours. Project and Staff Management • Develop and implement flexible but specific workplans that support the management and triage of multiple priorities and needs, while ensuring adherence to an aggressive timeline., • Supervise and manage the manager of Member Services, all trainers and training content subject matter experts, including recruitment, contracts, and performance evaluations.[SJ1] [2], • Prepare, submit, and maintain project documents such as plans, logs, and lessons learned, from project initiation through closing, in coordination with other staff, as required by funders., • Manage and facilitate the engagement and participation of project funders, the project team, the subcontractors, and other stakeholders., • Approve staff timesheets and schedules as appropriate., • Communicate effectively, efficiently, and appropriately with the funders, the project teams, the executive director, and other stakeholders., • Identify, prioritize, and resolve challenges (proactively where possible) to minimize impact to the project goals and timeline., • Oversee subcontractors and monitor and guide their programmatic and fiscal progress., • Prepare and submit all required progress and data reports to the funder to ensure contract compliance., • Manage website content and troubleshooting with HRiA IT when issues arise, • Create and oversee content and delivery of all training programs, including CHW Certificate, Career Development Webinars and Workshops, CHW Leadership Learning Communities, CHW Center trainings, etc., • Conduct an annual training assessment and review future offerings and content based on findings, • Manage Registrations, evaluations, and Credit Units for all training programs, • Serve as liaison to the Board of CHW Certification and Core Competency Training Centers across the State, • Manage all training-related data, including training evaluation, number of participants, demographics, and other required information., • Manage all program related data, including evaluations, demographics, headcount, etc., • Maintain and regularly update MACHW’s website to reflect accurate, relevant information related, • Analyze, categorize, and organize existing digital content, • Monitor analytics and engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of the content strategy and identify opportunities for improvement; this includes conducting an annual audit/quality assessment of the website and social media, • Manage all social media communications, including curating content, a steady flow of posting, and replying to social media comments and inquiries within 24 hours., • Manage CHW Week (including annual communications campaign, CHW celebration events, Employer Guidance and Engagement, governmental proclamations), • Write, edit, and publish high-quality, engaging content for Newsletters, social media, blogs, websites, and targeted digital campaigns., • Develop compelling messaging that communicates the impact of our work, promotes key initiatives, and elevates member voices and success stories., • Manage MailChimp account and all member mailings for upcoming events, news, resources, and member engagement opportunities., • Assist in designing branded content and graphics using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to visually enhance communications., • Ensure all content reflects MACHW’s style and commitment to inclusivity, equity, and educational access., • Maintain and update member data in MailChimp, • Create and manage segmented contact lists based on member type, engagement level, and program interests, • Collaborate with teams to ensure timely, relevant, and personalized communication across member touchpoints., • Assist in analyzing metrics from communications and outreach efforts., • Maintain or build skills in management, CHW supervision, CHW team integration, and related content areas., • Create content for MACHW website, social media postings, quarterly newsletters, and other sources to promote MACHW’s expertise., • Present at conferences/events as appropriate., • Suggest ideas/improvements in project and/or organizational processes and systems through participation in teams and committees., • Assist with proposal writing and/or submission as needed; this may include working with the Executive Director and other staff to prepare scopes of work and budgets for contract extensions, as well as preparing proposals for rebids or other new opportunities., • Manage MACHW website, blogs, and other opportunities to market services and expertise. Candidate Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree and/or 6 years’ experience performing similar work. Master’s degree preferred., • Experience designing and delivering culturally relevant training programs, • Experience developing instructional materials and toolkits aligned with adult learning principles, • Experience supervising staff and projects, • Experience facilitating workshops and ongoing professional development sessions for CHWs, • Experience working with CHW programs as a CHW and/or CHW supervisor, • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills,, • Demonstrated experience creating training curricula for adult learners, • Demonstrated experience facilitating both in-person and virtual training, • Demonstrated Proficiency in WordPress and MailChimp.
