Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician provides evidence-based behavioral and psychological services as an integral member of an interdisciplinary chronic pain, brain injury rehabilitation, and behavioral medicine team. This role delivers comprehensive assessments, diagnostic formulations (within licensure scope), individual and group psychotherapies, and treatment planning to support functional restoration and improved patient outcomes for chronic pain, brain injury, and psychological injury. The clinician collaborates closely with physicians, physical therapists, speech language pathologists, and other clinical staff to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care within a specialty medical practice. This position requires four days onsite and one day remote each week. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial, behavioral health, and/or psychological assessments for patients participating in chronic pain, functional restoration, mild brain injury, and outpatient behavioral health services., • Perform diagnostic interviews and apply DSM-based diagnostic formulations within scope of licensure to guide treatment planning and clinical interventions., • Provide evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy for patients with chronic pain, behavioral health conditions, mild brain injury, trauma-related concerns, and co-occurring mental health diagnoses, along with collateral contacts, as warranted., • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary medical and behavioral health team., • Facilitate therapeutic or psychoeducational groups focused on pain management, coping skills, mindfulness, wellness, stress management, cognitive functions and skills building, and functional restoration., • Deliver behavioral and psychosocial interventions that improve functioning, treatment adherence, and overall patient outcomes., • Manage scheduling for patients established in ongoing caseload, once established., • Support a minimum of 24 clinical contact hours per week, including but not limited to individual and group therapies, psychoeducational sessions, milieu and crisis interventions, and assessments Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Care Coordination • Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences, care coordination meetings, and treatment planning discussions., • Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, caregivers (as appropriate), physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure continuity of care., • Provide patient education and feedback regarding assessment findings, treatment recommendations, and coping strategies., • Contribute to staff education, in-service trainings, or clinical consultation related to pain psychology, psychological trauma, behavioral health interventions, brain injury, or integrated care practices., • Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and reports, according to expected timelines., • Ensure documentation meets organizational, regulatory, and payor requirements and remains audit-ready., • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, audits, and compliance activities as required., • Adhere to all professional, ethical, and regulatory standards, organizational policies, and applicable laws. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS) • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution and current, unrestricted Clinical Psychologist license in the State of California., • For neuropsychologists, two years verified training and SPE conducting neuropsychological evaluations and associated treatment, • Demonstrated experience conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing individual and group psychotherapy., • Ability to deliver evidence-based behavioral health interventions within scope of practice., • Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and ability to manage caseloads and documentation requirements., • Effective oral and written communication skills., • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team., • Ability to maintain licensure in good standing throughout employment, • Experience working in interdisciplinary medical, behavioral health, or rehabilitative care settings., • Experience treating individuals with chronic pain or complex medical conditions., • Training or experience in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, mindfulness-based interventions, trauma-informed care, cognitive rehabilitation, or health psychology., • Experience facilitating therapeutic or psychoeducational groups., • Familiarity with functional restoration programs, brain injury programs, or integrated care models. PREFERRED • Bilingual in Spanish (highly preferred).
