Founded in 1974 to help low-literate adults gain essential reading skills, Literacy Mid-South has since expanded its mission to support learners of all backgrounds and ages. Today, in addition to adult and student literacy programs, LMS serves as a convener and core collaborator for organizations working to improve literacy outcomes across the region. As we approach our 50th anniversary, Literacy Mid-South is positioned to become a regional literacy intermediary, bridging literacy goals across multiple sectors. Position Summary The Tutor901 Program Manager will oversee the successful implementation of the Tutor901 initiative. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and instructional skills to manage part-time literacy tutors, collaborate with school staff, and ensure program fidelity. The Program Manager serves as a liaison among tutors, families, and schools while maintaining high standards for literacy intervention delivery, compliance, and data reporting. This is a two-year, grant-funded position. Key Responsibilities • Manage a cohort of part-time literacy tutors, providing leadership, guidance, and support., • Serve as a liaison between school staff and tutors to ensure smooth collaboration and communication., • Assist in tutor hiring, including recruitment and applicant procurement., • Coordinate communications to participants families with support from school staff., • Collaborate with school staff to develop tutoring schedules and coordinate program logistics., • Use literacy assessment tools (e.g., i-Ready) to compile interventions and support effective tutoring sessions., • Attend and participate in professional development workshops., • Provide training, observation, modeling, feedback, and retraining to tutors to ensure program fidelity and adherence to grant requirements., • Ensure accurate, real-time data collection, including attendance and interventions, and submit reports on time., • Develop and share family-facing foundational literacy activities to support learning at home., • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: • Bachelors degree required; Masters preferred. Experience: • Minimum 5+ years of education experience required., • Familiarity with i-Ready and other literacy assessment/intervention tools., • Proven ability to design and implement individualized and small-group literacy interventions., • Deep knowledge of reading, writing, and literacy development. Skills & Competencies: • Strong communication skills for effective engagement with tutors, school staff, and educators., • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback., • Comfortable with technology and learning new programs., • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds., • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; culturally and historically competent., • Skilled at delivering solutions in evolving, culturally diverse environments., • Self-motivated, organized, and able to meet deadlines., • Strong prioritization and multitasking abilities., • Commitment to continual improvement and lifelong learning. Other Requirements: • Must be able to pass a background check., • Availability to work evenings and weekends, as required., • Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs and sit or stand for extended periods. Work Environment • Hybrid role with some in-office work, on-site school visits, remote work, and community engagement., • Flexibility in scheduling with occasional evening or weekend commitments for events or training. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $56,000 $65,000 annually • New hires are typically brought in between the range minimum and midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and budget.
