Job Description Job Title: Batch Maker (Overnight Shift) Job Description This role prepares, mixes, and packages liquid products by following detailed formulas and good manufacturing practices in a general manufacturing environment. The Batch Maker reviews and executes production formulas, operates mixing and batching equipment, and ensures that all products meet quality and safety standards while working an overnight Monday through Friday shift. Responsibilities • Review assigned formulas for chemical and packaging requirements and plan the proper sequence of reactions and mixing steps., • Complete assigned batches within the allotted time while maintaining accuracy and product quality., • Retrieve ingredients as indicated on the formula, ensuring use of only quality-control-approved raw materials., • Accurately measure ingredients and record any substitutions, over-pours, or deviations, obtaining supervisor approval when required., • Follow good manufacturing guidelines and standard operating procedures throughout the batch-making process., • Monitor equipment and observe production throughout the batch process to ensure consistent mixing and correct reaction progression., • Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to gather and move raw materials as needed for production., • Take ownership of material availability by notifying warehouse personnel or supervisors of missing raw materials required to complete a batch., • Package approved batches and label all finished product containers accurately and clearly., • Stock supplies and label containers of raw materials when needed to support continuous production., • Use equipment that is in proper working condition and perform routine maintenance on equipment as required., • Clean, sanitize, and inspect tools, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other equipment to maintain sanitary and efficient operations., • Complete end-of-day procedures, including restocking raw materials, performing housekeeping tasks, and controlling and documenting waste., • Maintain a clean and safe work area and adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including understanding the hazards of handling various chemicals., • Train new operators and mixers on processes, equipment, and safety procedures and assist in other areas of the plant as needed., • Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support overall plant operations., • Observe all safety rules and procedures at all times while performing duties., • Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when working on or around equipment. Essential Skills • At least 3 years of manufacturing or production experience, with liquid production experience highly preferred., • Proficiency with basic math skills for accurate measuring, batching, and documentation., • Hands-on experience as a mixer, blender, batch maker, or batch mixer in a production environment., • Ability to follow detailed recipes, formulas, and batching instructions accurately., • Experience with compounding and batch mixing processes in a manufacturing setting., • Ability to safely operate production machinery and equipment, including mixers and related machines., • Capability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move raw materials and finished goods., • Strong attention to detail to ensure proper sequencing of reactions and mixing steps., • Ability to monitor equipment and production processes and identify issues promptly., • Commitment to following good manufacturing practices and safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out., • Ability to maintain clear and accurate production records, including documenting substitutions and waste., • Willingness and ability to work an overnight shift Monday through Friday (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.). Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in soap making, liquid product batching, or similar chemical manufacturing environments., • Comfort working with strong fragrances and scented products., • Experience training or mentoring new operators or mixers., • Familiarity with general manufacturing environments and smaller plant operations., • Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting., • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for batch quality, material availability, and housekeeping. Work Environment This role operates in a general manufacturing environment focused on soap and liquid product making within a smaller, temperature-controlled plant. Team members work the overnight shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. The facility uses mixers, blenders, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other production equipment, along with forklifts and pallet jacks for moving raw materials and finished goods. Strong soap fragrances and other product scents are present throughout the workday. The workplace emphasizes cleanliness, with regular cleaning, sanitizing, and inspection of tools and equipment, and strict adherence to safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out and safe chemical handling. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are used to support a safe and professional production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MEMPHIS, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.86 - $21.86/hr.
