Job Description Job Title: Composite Technician I - Poway, CA - $21-$22/hr Job Description: The Composite Technician I is tasked with fabricating, assembling, and repairing advanced composite structures using materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, prepare molds, and perform material lay-up, curing, and finishing processes. Technicians will assemble components by trimming, drilling, bonding, and fastening parts to meet engineering specifications. Ensuring quality through detailed inspections and collaborating with teams to resolve assembly challenges is crucial. Maintaining a safe and organized work environment and adhering to safety procedures and documentation requirements are essential. 1st Shift (5:30 AM to 2:30 PM) 2nd Shift (2:30 PM to 12:00 AM) Responsibilities • Precisely align and fit composite parts and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications., • Apply structural adhesives and bonding agents to join components, ensuring strong and durable bonds., • Install fasteners using hand and power tools, verifying torque values and placement., • Assemble complex structures by integrating hardware with composite parts., • Prepare bonding surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and treating for optimal adhesion., • Use assembly jigs, fixtures, and templates to maintain dimensional accuracy., • Perform basic functional checks and preliminary inspections to verify quality., • Record assembly steps and communicate findings to supervisors or engineering teams., • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve challenges and improve processes., • Assist in preparing molds and forms, and mark and cut materials following templates., • Route, drill, trim, and sand to blueprint dimensions and tolerances., • Maintain records as required and support quality processes by keeping the work area orderly., • Experience with composites, manufacturing, layup, lamination, and blueprints., • Familiarity with vacuum bagging, aerospace, autoclave, fabrication, prepreg, and carbon fiber., • Ability to verbally communicate, read, and comprehend instructions, blueprints, and documents., • Proficiency with hand tools such as rollers, paper cutters, scissors, x-acto knives, and electric heat gun., • Ability to use measuring instruments like scales, protractors, and calipers., • Strong work ethic and work stability., • May require respirator certification. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.64 - $22.64/hr.
