The Case Manager completes ledgers, reconciles accounts and assists with spending choices. The Case Manager gradually promotes the client’s ability to assume mastery of personal financial matters. Requirements: Essential Functions: • Be identifiable with YMCA Lifeguard shirt, whistle, swimsuit and has the rescue tube with them. The Rescue tube must be properly worn, with the strap on the shoulder and holding it in front of the body., • Actively apply and enforce all pool rules and proactively address members to maintain a safe environment., • Knows, understands, and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area., • Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area. This includes standing at the edge of the pool or using the elevated lifeguard chair, actively looking at the water and swimmers, staying alert and scanning from one end of the pool to the other by moving their head side to side every 10 seconds., • Must sit in an alert position and does not lean or recline in a resting position while on duty., • Minimize all distractions that may interfere with effective scanning, such as not engaging in extended conversations with other staff or members., • Must be skilled in observing the behavior of swimmers in the water and be ready at all times to stop dangerous behavior., • Move to another area when multiple lifeguards are on duty to ensure appropriate zone coverage of the pool., • Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with emergency action plan and provide first aid care when needed., • Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff., • Perform equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed., • Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving and throughout shift., • Attend all staff meetings and training as required., • Be 5-10 minutes early to every shift and record time worked correctly with limited mistakes., • Must find coverage if unable to attend a shift. Contact must be made ahead of time if a scheduled shift cannot be worked., • Flexibility, may be asked to substitute for other employee’s shift or work beyond assigned shift in an effort to ensure safety and proper coverage., • Mandatory attendance for in-services and rescue drills. In-Service meeting will be scheduled in advance. Rescue drills may or may not be scheduled without prior notice., • Certifications: Current Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid certification as required by the NJ State Bathing Code., • Acceptable Lifeguard Certification may be from YMCA or American Red Cross., • Acceptable CPR may be from American Heart Association CPR/AED or American Red Cross CPR/AED., • Acceptable FA Certification may be from American Red Cross FA or National Safety Council., • Oxygen Administration certification from American Red Cross preferred., • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness. Job Description The Role The Science Camp Counselors at Liberty Science Center (LSC) are vital to the success of our dynamic summer day camp, which provides immersive STEM programming and activities for children in grades 1 through 8. Counselors will have the exciting opportunity to: * Assist and lead in developing fun and informative STEM curriculum; and * Engage directly with campers at LSC by delivering the programs. Applicants must be passionate about STEM education and available for the entire duration of the camp program (July 6th-August 14th) Science Camp Counselors report to LSC's Director of Out-of-School Time Programs. Classification & Schedule Science Camp Counselor is a seasonal position; applicants must be available to work for the duration of the summer camp from July 6th through August 14th and work Monday through Friday. You will have your weekends off! Counselors can expect to work approximately 40 hours per week. * The desired start date for this position is June 22nd * The desired end date for this position is August 21st. Ending dates may be flexible to accommodate school schedules. This position is a non-exempt seasonal position that is not benefits eligible. Camp Counselors are also exempt from overtime rates during the months of June, July, August, and September according to NJ Law. Environmental and Physical Demands This position will require the ability to work with kids which means having the ability to remain calm while moving quickly and immediately to respond to various circumstances as they arise. The environment at times may be noisy and very active. This role requires the ability to work inside the building (walking on concrete floors, climbing stairs, pushing or carrying equipment, etc.) and outdoors (walking on uneven ground, exposed to the elements) and to travel to off-site locations in all varieties of weather. The ability to lift 45 pounds is also required. Compensation The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.
