Responsibilities: • Perform regular safety and status checks on clinical trial subjects housed on unit as determined by physician orders., • Perform appropriate research protocol procedures as delegated which may include but are not limited to vital signs, blood collection and processing, ECGs, and point of care laboratory tests., • Perform basic lab procedures as delegated including but not limited to preparation of specimen tubes and labels, blood specimen collection, centrifuge operation, storing and shipping of lab specimens, accountability of specimens and notification of courier for specimen pick-ups., • Ensure that biological specimens are disposed of appropriately., • Maintain a clean, safe work environment for both fellow employees and clinical trial subjects., • Engage the clinical trial subjects in group activities or one-on-one activities while housed on unit., • Assure subjects have linens, toiletry items, and other sundries needed while the subject is housed on the unit., • Serve meals and provide snacks to clinical trial subjects while subjects are housed on unit., • Study, learn and comply with ERG site standard operating procedures, and other policies, practices and regulations where applicable., • Education and experience, • High school Degree or equivalent, • One (1) year of clinical experience preferred., • CPR Certification required., • Phlebotomy certification (national) preferred., • Understand regulatory requirements, as well as Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines., • Able to communicate with providers, co-workers, and others in a collaborative and courteous manner., • Knowledgeable in medical terminology so as to communicate with physician office and staff., • Able to initiate or modify behavior to achieve desired outcomes despite environmental factors, priorities, or problems that might not be well defined or that are subject to change., • Requirements, • Ability to work independently and as a team player., • Ability to organize and prioritize within a changing environment., • Use safety/universal precautions to protect self, subjects and staff., • Able to appropriately implement protocol and regulatory requirements in study conduct., • Proficient in venipuncture, centrifugation, sample storage and performing electrocardiogram., • Excellent documentation practices, • Good organizational and interpersonal skills, • Attentive to detail, good initiative and able to work with changing priorities.

Job Description The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC) is offering a position as an Internal Medicine Senior Veterinarian. Requirements for this position are ACVIM board certification in Internal Medicine and eligibility for a New York State license. As an internist at AMC, you will have the chance to train residents and interns and be challenged daily in a unique opportunity that blends clinical practice and academics and allows for cross pollination of ideas between clinicians and residents. AMC comprises almost every specialty and subspecialty of small animal medicine and surgery, with an emphasis on collaborative medicine, offering a chance to expand your personal clinical skillset. The hospital provides an environment where learning new procedures is possible and encouraged. The Internal Medicine Department is fully staffed with state-of-the-art equipment for endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, ultrasonography, laparoscopy, and interventional radiology. You will be part of our internal medicine team of 7 boarded specialists and dedicated hospitalists. Internal medicine works closely with the Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy Service, staffed with 2 boarded specialists. In addition, the Internal Medicine Department has a dedicated Hemodialysis and Extracorporeal Therapy Service. State-of-the-art CT and MRI are also available, overseen by our Diagnostic Imaging Department with 4 radiologists. Our assistant and licensed veterinary technician team is highly familiar with all internal medicine and interventional procedures. Additionally, our staff practice a high level of anesthetic competency overseen by our Anesthesia Department to assist with complex and high-risk cases. As a Senior Veterinarian, your job will be a hybrid between outpatient clinical medicine, inpatient care, and procedures. You will also participate in oversight of residents, teaching of interns, and contribute to and participate in academic teaching rounds. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, we have an expanded capacity and dedication to providing critical care to the patients that we service. A close relationship with the Emergency and Critical Care Department allows for joint oversight and awareness of ICU patients.
