Job DescriptionSunnyside Manor is seeking Activities Assistants to further enrich the quality of life to an aging population residing within our 5-star community. Full time and Part time positions available, with the ability to work some weekends, evening, inclement weather, and holidays. The Part-Time Activities Assistant will work closely with the Activities Director & Lead Activity Aide to plan, implement, and assist with a variety of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for residents in our assisted living, memory care, and long-term care setting. This role plays a key part in enhancing the quality of life for residents by fostering an environment of engagement, socialization, and personal enrichment. Previous experience in the hospitality, customer service, event planning, or long-term care setting field is preferred but not required. Responsibilities Candidates must: • Assist in the planning, organizing, and facilitating daily activities such as games, arts and crafts, music therapy, exercise classes, and outings., • Ensure that activities are tailored to meet the individual needs and interests of residents, taking into consideration their physical and cognitive abilities., • Provide meaningful level of engagement for residents who may have difficulty participating in group activities, offering companionship and emotional support., • Encourage resident participation and assist with transporting when needed., • Monitor and document resident participation and progress, noting any changes in mood, behavior, or physical condition., • Set up and clean activity areas before and after sessions., • Maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere for residents and their families., • Assist in maintaining a calendar of upcoming activities and events., • Ensure safety during all activities, adhering to facility policies and procedures.Qualifications:, • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Having successfully completed or be eligible to attend a state approved Activity Training Course., • Previous experience in an activities or recreation role, preferably in a long-term care or assisted living setting, is a plus., • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with elderly residents, their families, and staff., • Compassionate, patient, and understanding, with a genuine interest in working with older adults., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail., • Self-initiating, • Flexible and able to utilize constructive criticismPhysical Requirements:, • Ability to stand, walk, and move about for extended periods., • Ability to perform a medium level of physical work including pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, sitting, carrying, stooping, and reaching.
