Job DescriptionFood Safety QA Manager Lakewood, NJ Area (On-site) Compensation: $90K - $120K + 20% bonus (salary based on education and experience) About the Role A well-established food company is looking for an experienced Food Safety QA Manager to take full ownership of food safety and quality assurance at their facility. This is a hands-on and strategic role that touches every part of the operation, from compliance and auditing to customer specs and regulatory requirements. The right person is organized, detail-oriented, and knows how to build and maintain programs that keep a facility audit-ready every day of the year. Responsibilities • Own and maintain all food safety and quality systems including HACCP, GMPs, allergen control, pest control, environmental monitoring, sanitation, traceability, and recall programs, • Ensure full compliance with USDA and FDA regulations and GFSI auditing scheme requirements, • Lead customer and third-party audits and manage all associated CAPAs through to closure, • Develop, implement, and monitor processes and procedures to keep the facility audit-ready at all times, • Track and trend consumer complaints and food safety quality objectives, reporting KPIs to the leadership team, • Manage onboarding of new products and customers to ensure all regulatory requirements are met from the start, • Compose, maintain, and enforce internal and external product specifications, • Oversee the Environmental Monitoring Program and Food Testing Program, • Complete customer questionnaires and maintain customer portals, • Work cross-functionally with production, R&D, and sales to ensure commercialization and scale-up runs smoothly, • Maintain documentation for all R&D projects in accordance with regulatory compliance, • Ensure all product packaging and labeling meets regulatory requirements, • Maintain vendor, plant, and customer audit records and documentation, • Serve as the primary point of contact for all food safety and quality matters with customers and regulatory agenciesRequirements, • BS/BA required; Master’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant FSQA experience, • 5-7+ of experience as a Food Safety and Quality Manager in a food manufacturing environment, • HACCP certification, PCQI certification and internal auditing certification preferred, • USDA and FDA regulated environments preferred, • Strong working knowledge of SQF, GMPs, allergen control, environmental monitoring, and sanitation programs, • Familiarity with lab equipment including pH meters and ATP testing, • Understanding of Statistical Process Control and its practical application, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP, • Bi-lingual English / Spanish is a plus, • Strong communicator with the ability to manage relationships across internal teams, customers, and regulatory contacts with professionalism and tact, • High growth or startup experience is a plusThis is a role for someone who takes food safety personally, builds programs that actually hold up under scrutiny, and wants to be the standard-bearer for quality at a growing facility.
