Job Description Jersey Shore Animal Center, Brick, NJ-Private, 501(c3) non-profit Animal Shelter is searching for a veterinary technician/assistant with shelter and spay neuter experience to provide high quality and compassionate care. As directed by the Shelter Veterinarian: Examination and monitoring of overall health of shelter animals Intake exams on new shelter animals Provide medications and vaccines-maintenance of all record keeping and maintenance logs Assists with all procedures of medical and surgical support- animal restraint, anesthesia, surgical prep and monitoring of animals, blood draws, testing, prepping surgery packs Routine dental cleanings and extractions under the direction of the veterinarian Collect, prepare and label samples for lab testing or microscopic examination Cleans and sterilizes instruments, equipment, materials, surgical suite, exam and recovery areas Fills prescriptions and labeling containers, administration of routine medications Works openly with Veterinarian and Team to ensure the overall health and well-being of each shelter animals. Qualifications: High School Graduate Associates Degree-Veterinarian Technician/Assistant-Certification as a Veterinary Technician-CVT, LVT Surgery experience Proper animal handling and communication skills 1-3 years’ experience as a veterinary technician/Assistant with spay/neuter Knowledge of computers and animal shelter/clinic software Professional and courteous manner with Staff and Clients Physical Requirements: Physically active, frequent bending and standing, routine lifting and restraining animals-able to lift up to 50 pounds Part Time, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays Compensation based on experience and skill level Wednesdays-Fridays, 8 hour shifts (can include overtime), 8-32 hours per week depending on availability Work Location: In person
