Job Description : Overview: • Seeking a Municipal Engineer with 6+ years of civil engineering experience to join a municipal engineering team. This role offers long-term growth, diverse project work, and the opportunity to contribute directly to community infrastructure across urban, suburban, and rural environments. Position Summary: • The Municipal Engineer will design and/or manage a wide range of public infrastructure projects—such as roads, underground utilities, public buildings, and recreational facilities—and review land-use applications. The role reports to senior departmental leadership and involves both technical design and project management responsibilities. Primary Duties: • Serve as project manager and primary point of contact for municipal/public-sector clients., • Supervise, coordinate, and deliver all project work to meet client expectations., • Develop engineering solutions to maintain and improve municipal infrastructure., • Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems using CAD tools., • Perform engineering calculations (loads, grades, flow rates, stress factors)., • Prepare materials/labor estimates and evaluate project feasibility., • Analyze survey data, maps, drawings, and other site information., • Conduct studies on traffic, environmental conditions, and project impacts., • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and governmental regulations., • Identify environmental risks and develop risk-management strategies., • Attend public meetings as the Municipal or Board Engineer; present reports as needed., • Provide technical guidance on design, construction, and capital improvements., • Support field inspection staff with data, shop-drawing reviews, and coordination. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Strong technical writing skills, including reports, maps, and appendices., • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail., • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities., • Proficiency with stormwater modeling tools and Microsoft Office. Education, Experience & Licenses: • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field., • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required., • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites. Working Conditions: • Occasional fieldwork with exposure to outdoor conditions., • Frequent computer-based work., • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
