Job Description Overview Our client, a major PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Services) entity owned by 20 non-profit health plans serving >33 million members and benefits manager of government programs including Medicare and Medicaid, seeks an accomplished Certified Pharmacy Technician Job Title: Certified Pharmacy Technician Location: 100% Remote (California Residents Only) Duration: 6 months (possible temp-to-hire) Start Date: November 3, 2025 Pay Rate: Not specified in JD Schedule: * 8 hours per day | 5 days per week (Monday–Sunday) * Start time varies between 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Pacific Time) * No graveyard shift * 4 weeks of training: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Pacific Time) * No time-off during training and no absences preferred in the first 90 days Must-Have Requirements: * Must be a California resident * Reliable high-speed wired internet (minimum 150 Mbps; no Wi-Fi) * Quiet, secure home office setup * Equipment provided by client * Flexibility to work any assigned shift Job Description: The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for evaluating and authorizing prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or fax, following client criteria. The role requires communicating decisions, documenting outcomes, and ensuring compliance with Medicare requirements and company policies. Responsibilities: * Evaluate and authorize pharmacy prior authorization requests using client criteria * Communicate approval/denial decisions to physicians, pharmacists, and medical staff * Research, resolve, and document outcomes in the pharmacy system * Explain benefit coverage and formulary alternatives * Escalate complex reviews or denials to a pharmacist as needed * Manage grievances, appeals, and inquiries from clients or prescribers * Verify member information and input data for pharmacists * Educate members on prescription rules and medication resources * Maintain records for authorizations, rebates, and reports Minimum Qualifications: * High School diploma or GED * 2–4 years of pharmacy technician experience * California State Pharmacy Technician Certification (preferred) Additional Qualifications: * Knowledge of specialty injectable drugs, medical terminology, and coding (J/Q codes, ICD-9, CMS 1500) * Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and pharmacy systems/software * Experience in specialty or retail pharmacy, reimbursement, or healthcare settings * Ability to follow clinical criteria and handle escalations professionally Preferred Qualifications: * Prior experience in PBM or healthcare insurance environments * Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy * Excellent written and verbal communication skills Recruiter Contact Info Jatin Rattan Email: I'd love to talk to you if you think this position is right up your alley, and assure prompt communication, whichever direction.
