Learn more at About this position: DCS is seeking an energetic, creative, and godly Middle School Social Studies Teacher & Athletic Director, beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, starting with preplanning. The ideal candidate is a Christian that will inspire students to learn the knowledge, skills and subject matter of assigned area contributing to their development as mature Christians, consistent with DCS philosophies, vision and mission statement. Qualities we are looking for include: • Teach Middle School Social Studies, • Passionate about class subject matter, their students, and their relationship with Jesus Christ, • Positive and effective approach to teaching, as measured by student learning and outcomes, • Ability to integrate a biblical worldview into each subject, • Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, Biblical worldview integration, assessments and resources, incorporating classroom technology to enhance instruction, and ability to teach to multiple types of learners, • Strong classroom management skills, delivered with love and grace., • Effectively manage classroom and discipline procedures to provide a positive classroom environment conducive to learning, including modeling effective teacher/parental partnering through timely communication with parents in support of student learning (e.g., posting of assignments, grades, conferencing), • Consistent professionalism in instruction and personal conduct and punctuality, • Demonstrate the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to inspire student learning, including the understanding of the knowledge and characteristics of the age group taught, eagerness to disciple students, • Regularly update principal to assure the fulfillment of proper instructional priorities and pacing, • Possess solid communication skills, both written and verbal, strong organizational skills, ability to finish tasks in a timely manner and effectively partner and collaborate with others, • Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public. Lead Teacher Requirements: • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Education, with an emphasis in the area of instruction, or a related area (master’s degree preferred), • Teaching experience with demonstrated expertise and ability, • Preferred State or ACSI teaching certificate (earned or in process of earning), • Experienced with using technology in a classroom environment, preferably Google Classroom, • Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ, • Ability to form partnerships with parents, fellow teachers, and other stakeholders, • Ability to teach to Georgia education standards, • Evidence a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the DCS Statement of Faith including being a born again Christian, active Church member, exhibiting a close personal walk with Jesus Christ: modeling an exemplary Biblical lifestyle and evidencing maturity in the understanding and integration of sound Biblical principles in classroom instruction and personal counseling, • Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to the distinctive qualities of Christian education, • Excellent communication and organizational skills., • Feels called by God to the teaching profession and Christian education, • Ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to school/student matters, • Candidates must pass a background check prior to hire date, • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Athletic Director Requirements: * Work with Head of School to build strategy for year 3 of the DCS athletic program (i.e. selecting sports programs that DCS can offer successfully considering the size of student population & location/available facilities) * Report to and routinely meet with the head of school * Coordinate scheduling for all athletic events and facilities * Coordinate and oversee DCS field day events, communicating with parents and DCS staff, secure parent volunteers * Communicate routinely with DCS parents and staff * Recruit, hire, train, and supervise coaches and athletic staff * Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education (P.E.) curriculum that aligns with the school's mission and vision * Build relationships with and coordinate with athletic associations (i.e. GAPPS, etc.) * Build relationship with church staff, oversee requests for space for afterschool athletics use and P.E. use (e.g. use of gym time, etc) * Ensure that all athletic equipment and inventory are maintained in good condition and properly stored in a way that reflects good stewardship * Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes, while promoting their physical, mental, and spiritual development * Foster a positive culture within the athletic program, while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship * Work with school administration to develop and manage the athletic department budget * Represent the school in athletic events and conferences * Attend all DCS open house events during admissions season, as able with other athletics commitments * Attend routine DCS staff meetings * Drive student athletics to practices and events as needed in school vehicle (valid state driver's license required) * Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills * Respect professional ethics that require confidentiality concerning the sharing of information about children, parents, or staff * Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations in the classroom and school. Conduct required emergency safety drills in coordination with school leadership. * Maintain clean, attractive, and well-ordered athletic facilities. * Participate in the end-of-year school closing process, such as the inventorying of equipment. Compensation & Benefits: • Full-time employment salary may range from $45,000 - $70,000+ depending on experience and degree., • Full-time salaried employees are eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and more., • Tuition discounts for children of DCS staff (available to both part-time and full-time staff) Start Date: • DCS is hiring for the 2026-2027 school year. New teachers report to work by August 2026 (exact start date of preplanning TBD).
