The F&B Health & Safety Manager plays a critical role in supporting and reinforcing HMSHost’s commitment to preventing the spread of communicable diseases, strengthening restaurant-level health practices, and elevating food and workplace safety knowledge across teams. This role is responsible for fostering and sustaining a strong culture of safety across the branch/plaza through hands-on leadership, compliance oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and sanitation regulations (e.g., OSHA, FDA Food Code, FSMA), and communicate regulatory updates to QA and Risk Management teams., • Partner with operations leadership to ensure full compliance with all health and safety regulations across locations., • Review and manage Workers’ Compensation and General Liability claims, identify trends, and implement proactive action plans., • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and state health departments to support compliance and stay ahead of regulatory changes., • Conduct root cause analysis on compliance gaps and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence., • Perform daily site visits to observe operations, reinforce safe behaviors, and ensure adherence to safety protocols., • Identify workplace risks, ensure proper use of PPE, and confirm equipment is functioning safely; escalate maintenance needs as required., • Ensure all required safety signage and postings are current, visible, and compliant., • Lead and support health and safety training initiatives, including onboarding, refreshers, and ongoing coaching., • Partner with HR and leadership to ensure accurate documentation of training, incidents, and compliance records., • Participate in corporate QA and Risk Management training and initiatives., • Oversee ServSafe certification processes and compliance., • Lead the Safety Team, encouraging engagement and accountability across all levels., • Execute regular food safety and workplace safety audits and checklists., • Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned. Reporting & Work Environment • Reports to the Senior Director of Operations / Director of Operations., • Exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act., • Requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including openings, peak periods, and closings, to effectively monitor operations., • Collaborates closely with QA and Risk Management teams to implement safety procedures and regulatory compliance strategies. Qualifications & Skills • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail., • Proven experience conducting food safety and workplace safety audits., • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of identifying trends and implementing effective solutions., • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, FDA Food Code, FSMA, and communicable disease prevention protocols., • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex information to diverse audiences., • Effective facilitator and coach, capable of training individuals and teams while driving accountability. Experience & Certifications • High School Diploma required., • Minimum of 5 years of food and workplace safety experience in the restaurant industry., • OSHA and ServSafe certifications required (or completion within 30 days of hire)., • Additional certifications/training:, • ServSafe Manager Certification, • ServSafe Responsible Alcohol (or equivalent), • ServSafe Allergens (or equivalent), • OSHA #7505 – Introduction to Incident Investigation, • MIT 1 Food Safety & Workplace Safety, • Comprehensive HAZMAT/BBP Training Avolta, including Dufry, HMSHost Corporation, Hudson, and affiliates (“the Company”), is an equal opportunity employer.
