The Health & Safety Manager leads the implementation of safety strategy, programs, and compliance across companies of the INDITEX Group operating in the United States and Puerto Rico. This role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risk at an organizational level, and partnering with senior leadership, operations, HR, and external stakeholders to continuously improve workplace health and safety performance. · Lead and continuously improve the company’s occupational health and safety management system across all retail and office locations in the United States and Puerto Rico. · Report directly to the Head of People Controls, ensuring alignment with HR governance, strategic priorities, and enterprise health and safety objectives. · Direct and validate enterprise-wide risk assessments/inspections, including those conducted by third-party prevention services, ensuring findings are integrated into strategic planning and operational controls. · Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety legislation, and proactively identify regulatory changes that may impact operations. · Maintain the company’s ISO 45001 certification and World Health Organization Healthy Workplace certification, including audit preparation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. · Develop, implement, and monitor preventative health and safety programs to address identified risks and non-conformities. · Manage the health and safety training strategy, ensuring appropriate content, delivery, tracking, and effectiveness for all employee groups. · Manage and provide oversight of incident and accident investigation processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, root-cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventative actions. · Review and approve incident reports and ensure accountability for corrective action execution across departments and store management teams. · Monitor and analyze health & safety performance metrics, trends, and KPIs to drive data-informed decision-making and leadership reporting. · Oversee systems and tools used for incident reporting, investigations, checklists, mandatory training, and compliance tracking. · Manage relationships with external health and safety vendors, consultants, and suppliers, including oversight of internal applications used for supplier compliance. · Issue and approve health and safety communications, guidance, and memos to ensure consistent application of policies and regulatory requirements. · Provide leadership and subject matter expertise to HR, Operations, and senior management, including participation in the Executive Health and Safety Committee Meetings. · Collaborate with other stakeholders involving matters pertaining to workplace violence, business continuity, and other emergency situations. · Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and prevention through leadership engagement, employee involvement, and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience and qualifications · Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in occupational health and safety, risk management, or a related field. · Experience in the retail industry or multi-location environment strongly preferred, including support of field leadership and store-level teams. · Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Business, or a similar field is required. · Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to research, interpret, and apply OSHA and applicable state/local requirements. · Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and maintaining H&S programs, policies, procedures, and risk assessments. · Experience supporting or maintaining an ISO 45001 or equivalent management system is strongly preferred. · Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools is preferred. · Experience analysing incident trends, corrective actions, audits, and leading indicators to drive continuous improvement. · Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. · Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable owning decisions and outcomes. · Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, HR, Security, Facilities (General Services), Legal/Compliance, and external partners. · Willingness and ability to travel and be available as required to support business needs.
