Job DescriptionSalary: $19.00 The Padre Hotel is looking to immediately hire qualified, enthusiastic, part-time Pastry/Prep Cooks. We are looking for world-class employees who go the extra mile and create the atmosphere that keeps our guests coming back time and time again. Located in the bustling Downtown Arts District, Bakersfields Historic Padre Hotel is proudly the only Four Diamond hotel in Kern County. Our property offers distinct entertainment venues including a grand banquet hall, a nostalgically happening bar, and a bustling outdoor patioand lounge, all within a beautifully appointed environment for our guests. Position Qualifications: • Musthave at least 1 - 2 years experience working in upscale casual restaurant atmosphere. Culinary school experience preferred., • Ability to understand basic recipes and prepare baked goods following company and sanitary standards., • Knowledge of from scratch laminated doughs, artisan breads, cookies, muffins, and cakes., • Experience or extreme interest in all varieties of plated desserts., • Focused, able to multi-task, • Positive Attitude Example of Duties (this is a sampling and not an all-inclusive list): • Prepare recipes and adequate amounts of food items to be served to customers., • Keep kitchen(s) and commissary in a clean and organized manner (cooks and bakers must be checked out by a manager prior to leaving for the day), • Maintain food in accordance with ServSafe and health code regulations, • Bake according to recipes or personal judgment and experience., • Portion, arrange, and garnish desserts., • Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling and reading thermometers., • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment., • Maintain par lists, par levels, waste logs and requisition forms in accordance with management standards., • Help in all areas of the restaurant where needed., • Ensure menus are utilized according to company standards and policies., • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or F&B Management.
