Job Description Job description: Background: Established in 1963, The Cardiovascular Care Group provides complete care for patients with vascular disease. With New Jersey offices in Essex, Passaic, Union, Morris, Monmouth, and Mercer counties, the Group is able to deliver care in both office-based and hospital settings. The Vein Institute provides comprehensive care to patients with venous disease. Job Summary: The Radiologic Technologist/Special Procedures Tech provides scrub assistance and operates fluoroscopy equipment within the procedure suite. Radiologic Technologist/Special Procedures Tech Responsibilities include: • Scrub into procedure, assist nursing staff in opening sterile supplies and preparing for each procedure., • Sets up sterile table, instruments and supplies according to procedure and physician preference card., • Scrubs, gowns and gloves in accordance with AORN standards., • Anticipates and assists surgeons according to prescribed standards., • Cost conscious in utilization of supplies for procedures., • Applies and maintains the aseptic technique in delivery of care to patients., • Assists in application of dressings as needed., • Decontaminates all equipment and instruments; cleans room per TCVCG policy/procedures., • Maintains and operates all departmental equipment necessary for patient care (i.e. C- arm, ultrasound, various catheters); maintains par levels of equipment., • Turn on ALL equipment (C-Arm, Laptop, Autoclave)., • Gather that day’s patient images (Usually print the day before/Down time)., • Open Angio tray and drop equipment/Set Up., • At the end of the day, unpack delivery supplies and stock procedure suite room., • Before every case: Introduce yourself to each patient, assess the patient/feel fistula if applicable and discuss patients with physician., • After each case: Dispose of ALL sharps and disposable instruments in appropriate containers., • Change garbage; clean and disinfect the room after each use., • Set up for next patient., • Assists in non-critical patient care under the direction of the RN / Doctor., • Assists with Permcath removals at bedside as needed., • Handles protected health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines., • Participates in Quality Improvement Program and initiatives, including but not limited to Radiation Safety., • Minimum 4+ years as an x-ray tech, with direct experience in vascular surgery and scrub experience., • Strong patient/customer service orientation., • Maintains a professional appearance; takes pride and ownership of work and works in a cooperative, team-oriented manner., • Effective communicator., • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to handle shifting priorities., • Competency in radiation safety., • Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program or radiography program, or equivalent knowledge gained by experience., • Current NJ license in Diagnostic Radiography and ARRT Preferred.
