CAMBA’s Flagstone Family Center provides comprehensive case management services to 160 families who are in a Tier II transitional residence program for homeless families. There will be two main entrances: one for the east side of the street and one for the west. Each building contains 20 apartments of varying sizes, each fully self-contained. WSFSSH develops, manages, and provides social services in housing for low-income persons, especially those who are older, who have experienced homelessness and who live with mental illness. Job Summary The Assistant Property Manager will assist in all aspects of the administration and property management of the building, with the goal of enabling residents to live permanently and as safely and independently as possible. About the Role The Housing Stability Specialist works directly with low-income and special needs tenants applying for and residing in Lantern’s supportive housing programs. Job Description: Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Congregate Care, the Claremont Director provides leadership and is responsible for establishing and maintaining a supportive housing community. Position: Security Guard Reports To: Security Supervisor Location: 880 Willoughby Street Brooklyn, NY 11221 What The Security Guard Does: The person filling this position is expected, under close supervision, to: (1) maintain access control and traffic inside facilities to maintain order and security of people and property; (2) detect and/or prevent fires, vandalism, theft, or infractions of the rules; (3) maintain assigned posts throughout the facility until properly relieved; (4) protect employees, visitors and tenants; and, (5) provide directions to visitors when requested. • Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality, • Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol and Procedures., • Comply with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information., • Monitor and ensure the security and fire safety of the entire facility., • Employ crisis prevention/intervention and crisis management skills when conflict occurs., • Patrol buildings and grounds of facilities where CAMBA programs are located., • Examine doors, windows, gates, and all fire exits to determine that they are secure and in accordance with all fire regulations., • Observe and report irregularities such as unusual tenant behavior, trespassers, fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked., • Monitor tenants and the facility via security camera systems., • Conduct fire safety patrols and report findings or fire safety concerns to appropriate supervisory personnel., • Conduct security screenings of all tenants and visitors entering the facility., • Issue commendations to support positive tenant behaviors such as peers helping peers, compliance with rules and regulations, etc., • Counsel tenants who violate rules (such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles) and complete infraction reports., • Observe departing employees, visitors, and/or tenants to guard against theft of CAMBA property., • Document in the security logbook and incident report forms property damage, unusual occurrences, and incidents with employees, visitors, and tenants., • Maintain assigned equipment per shift., • Sign equipment in and out for each shift., • May provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports., • Other duties as assigned. Education, Licenses, and/or Certifications Required: • NYS Security Guard license, • Sufficient Education: to comprehend basic reading, writing, and math to execute the required functions of the role., • Must have an 8-hour Pre-Assignment security guard training course certificate., • Must obtain a 16-hour On-the-Job security guard training course certificate within 90 days of employment., • Must complete the 8-Hour Annual In-Service Course each calendar year., • Must have and maintain a NYS Security Guard license., • Must obtain NYS Security Guard registration and must maintain registration during employment., • Must obtain Fire Guard certification and maintain it throughout employment. Minimum Experience and Skills Required: • Obtain “Criminal History Checks” (CHC) fingerprinting through the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs (Justice System) and Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance., • Ability to maintain fingerprint clearance throughout employment., • As a Mandated Reporter, you must immediately report suspected incidents/cases of abuse and neglect to the Vulnerable Persons Central Register (VPCR) Hotline at 1-855-373-2122 and complete a CAMBA Incident Report., • Ability to read and write post-and-patrol reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from superiors, tenants, funders, other organizations, and the public., • Ability to apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to practical situations., • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions., • May have team and/or other coordination responsibility, but no consistent supervisory responsibility. Position Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities * Support Sakhi’s efforts to safely house survivors through a smooth housing search, and placement process * Have knowledge of habitability check, NYC housing policies or HUD standard housing inspections * Maintain standard client caseloads on a monthly basis which includes initial intakes and goal setting to determine housing eligibility, voucher needs, service plans and creating appropriate workshops * Assist with client voucher application and timely recertification process such as NYC City Fheps, FhepsB , Section 8, Stability voucher etc. * Navigate through processes beyond housing search, e.g inspection, lease ups and move-ins into housing secured by vouchers * Provide survivors with information on tenant rights, resources, and services available through in-house and external resources * Maintain up-to-date records of all survivor related activities, including documenting individual and program progress through data collection in Salesforce, AWARDS and other internal platforms, including program related reporting * Participate in program wide or org wide in person or remote events as needed Partnerships & Capacity Building Responsibilities * Identify, maintain and expand connections with landlords, realtors and management companies across NYC to expand the pool of units easily accessible to survivors in the neighborhoods they prefer. * Advocate for and refer clients to partner organizations who specialize in tenant rights and housing law Qualifications/Experience * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience * Minimum of 2-5 years of case management experience specifically pertaining to housing advocacy and navigation * Fluency in at least one South Asian language required * A background in gender justice is preferred * U.S. Work authorization required * Experience working with multiple staff, volunteers, and program responsibilities * Ability to work well under pressure and juggle multiple time-sensitive tasks * Ability to work through flexible hours and meet deadlines * Strong interpersonal, writing, and organization skills preferred * Experience in a range of housing search and placement processes preferred * Experience or knowledge of NYC real estate, Transitional and Affordable Housing Programs preferred This is a full-time role (35 hours a week) that requires flexibility with the schedule.
