Job DescriptionAccounting Manager - Nonprofit Location: Clark, NJ (Onsite) Type: Direct Hire Salary: $75,000-$85,000 Requirements: Strong technology skills (SGA, Excel, integrated systems) If you or someone you know is interested in this opportunity, please email me directly- Overview LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Clark, NJ we are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, manage financial reporting, and support organizational planning. This role partners closely with the Finance Director and requires strong systems skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead and develop staff. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close • Manage monthly and year-end close, general ledger, accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries., • Prepare timely, accurate financial statements and variance analysis for all funds., • Support ongoing and ad hoc reporting needs.Budgeting & Planning, • Assist in developing and monitoring the annual operating budget., • Provide financial insights to department leaders and evaluate budget-to-actual results., • Recommend strategies to strengthen financial performance.Internal Controls & Compliance, • Ensure GAAP and nonprofit accounting compliance., • Improve processes, procedures, and internal controls., • Support external audits and required regulatory reporting.Systems & Process Improvement, • Oversee SGA system administration and GL configuration., • Ensure accurate data flow across integrated systems (payroll, donor, membership)., • Lead automation, upgrades, and efficiency initiatives.Grants & Receivables, • Manage grant reporting and compliance., • Reconcile contributions with Development., • Oversee AR and partner with Directors on outstanding balances.Leadership & Collaboration, • Support the Finance Director and act as backup when needed., • Mentor and develop accounting staff; serve as backup for accountant., • Collaborate with Senior Leadership on organizational financial matters.Qualifications, • Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; MBA/CPA/CMA preferred, • 6+ years progressive accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred, • 5+ years team management, • Strong GAAP and fund accounting knowledge, • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, etc.), • Experience with SGA or similar accounting systems, • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, • High integrity, professionalism, and ability to manage sensitive informationBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
