Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director/Assistant Aquatic Director or Pool Manager, the lifeguards will be responsible for the safety of all members during the hours of pool operation by being on deck, actively patrolling the pool area, constantly remaining alert and scanning, enforcing all pool rules, and other duties as assigned by the Director, Assistant Director or Pool Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Ensure all health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to., 2. Job Description The Madison Area YMCA is seeking certified lifeguards to join our aquatics team! Lifeguards maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas while creating a safe and fun swimming environment! If you're an early bird, the Madison Y offers an additional $2.50/hour between the hours of 6:00am-8:00am. Primary Responsibilities: • Swim with proficiency and endurance; remain calm and efficient, • Demonstrate knowledge of water hazards, pool safety, lifesaving techniques, and first aid., • At least 15 years of age, • Certifications: Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, First Aid & CPR, • Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness., • Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards., • Must be able to maintain a positive demeanor and attitude towards members and staff.
