Job Description Position: Aquatics Recreation Specialist (Full-Time, Exempt) Hiring Salary Range: $53,190 - $66,487 Full Salary Range: $53,190 - $79,785 Application Deadline: 1/29/2026 Summary: The Aquatics Recreation Specialist supports the daily operations of (2) year-round indoor facilities and (4) outdoor pools (May-August). The role assists in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive aquatics program, including hiring, training, scheduling and supervising aquatics staff; overseeing programs and facility operations; and ensuring high-quality customer service and safe environments for all guests. This position requires availability for early mornings, evenings and weekend shifts and being responsive to operations and emergencies. Job Responsibilities: • Assist in the daily operation and maintenance of pool/facilities; supervise staff; assist in the development and implementation of goals, strategies, policies, and procedures., • Monitor and document pool maintenance, including filtration systems and water chemistry; adjust chemicals as needed and ensure compliance with health and safety standards., • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate aquatic programs such as swim lessons, swim team, recreation activities and special events., • Schedule staff and facilities. Manage schedule and use of facility for daily programs as well as group and facility rentals and special user groups. Prepare invoices for facility rentals and maintain accurate records and documentation., • Hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate part time staff; address performance issues and support conflict resolution., • Coordinate, and conduct Lifeguarding Training classes, reviews, emergency drills, and in-service training programs., • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; track usage, perform audits, and order materials as needed., • Complete administrative duties including data entry into program registration, processing credits, transfers, refunds, and maintaining staff certification and performance files., • Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, track revenues and expenditures, and prepare financial reports., • Prepare purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests. Process payments and monitor outstanding balances. Prepare short and long-range revenue/expenditure projections and monitor revenue streams., • Assist with developing, implementing, and tracking marketing strategies to promote District programs, events, sales and promotions., • Build and maintain relationships with District employees, vendors, and community user groups to share information and coordinate programs and special events., • Prepare, update and enforce policies and procedures; lead periodic staff meetings to share information and address questions., • Provide high-quality customer service by offering general information on District programs, responding to inquiries, resolving complaints, and surveying guests., • Ensure public safety and cleanliness by conducting regular facility walk-throughs, identifying and reporting maintenance needs, and addressing safety or cleanliness issues immediately., • Follow all operations and safety procedures to prevent accidents and protect guests and staff. Respond quickly and calmly to emergencies, provide care and complete thorough Incident/Accident reports and communicate issues with supervisors., • Actively participate in staff and professional meetings and trainings to stay current in swimming pool regulations, safety requirements, training protocols and industry trends., • Bachelor’s degree in a Recreation, Aquatics Management, or directly related field, two (2) years of direct supervisory experience of an aquatic facility, including working with pool equipment, chemicals, and staff training/supervision, and two (2) years of seasonal guarding and lesson instruction; or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and years of experience., • Current Lifeguarding (CPR/AED, O2, First Aid), Lifeguarding Instructor, and Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator required., • Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certifications preferred., • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within thirty (30) days of employment. Must be insurable by the District carrier at the onset and for the duration of employment., • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques used in overseeing customer service programs, janitorial, swim lesson instruction, lifeguarding, supervision, and risk management of a swimming pool., • Strong communicationskills utilizing multiple mediums – verbal, written, and presentation is required., • Knowledge of aquatic safety devices (rescue tubes, backboards, BVM, O2)., • Knowledge of aquatic and facility operations, management, scheduling, and programming., • Knowledge of water chemistry principles as they apply to maintaininga pool. Chemical controllers (ie: BECS), chemical feeders (i.e.: chlorine pulsar and/or AccuTab); mechanical/pump room systems and filtration, chemical testing units (e.; Taylor test kit; Palintest), pressure washers, pool chemicals (muriatic acid, sodium bisulfate, calcium hypochlorite, CO2, sodium bicarbonate), electrical panels., • Knowledge of applicable State and County health and safety codes, and regulations.
