This role is responsible for the daily operations, staffing, training, and growth of our aquatics programming — including group swim lessons, private lessons, and lifeguard services — while maintaining a safe, high-quality experience for members and families. Job Description JCC Rainbow Day Camp is hiring energetic, passionate and hard-working individuals as Lifeguards. Lifeguards are responsible for supervising waterfront areas to ensure a fun and safe experience for all campers. Albert and Ann Deshur JCC Rainbow Day Camp is an inclusive summer camp, guided by Jewish values, for children and teens that fosters personal development, friendship and community. Led by experienced and nurturing staff on over 100 picturesque acres, campers safely play and learn through a variety of enriching activities and innovative programs. Position Summary Lifeguards are responsible for supervising the aquatic areas to prevent accidents, assist swimmers, and respond to emergencies. Lifeguards will create a safe, enjoyable and positive atmosphere that promotes campers success. All members of the lifeguard team oversee multiple swim locations and activities including free swim, boating, inflatable obstacle course, and beach play. This position may spend a large portion of the day outdoors and may remain standing or on their feet for long periods of time., • Must be comfortable working in a city park as a significant portion of time will be spent at the PEAK program center in Tiefenthaler Park, • Staff are required to actively participate in all camper activities, including water-related activities., • Staff must be ready for new experiences and maintain a consistent level of energy all summer long., • Position requires standing, stooping, sitting, walking long distances on uneven terrain (5+ miles a day), and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with or without assistance., • Camp activities are often loud, involving many people talking, yelling, cheering, etc., in indoor and outdoor settings., • The camp environment is often hot, rainy, with bugs or other wildlife. Staff must be able to work outside in a nature setting for sustained periods of time without air conditioning., • All PEAK Initiative properties, including Lake Valley Camp and the Milwaukee Program Center, are substance-free environments. Job Description The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) is seeking energetic, attentive and outgoing Adaptive Private Lesson Instructors. These Instructors are responsible for teaching individualized adaptive swim lessons. The hours are flexible and the pay rate is $15/per 30-minute lesson. The JCC is a non-profit social services agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values. Committed to meeting the ever-changing needs of the entire community, the JCC strengthens Jewish identity and enriches quality of life through diversified social, educational, recreational, and cultural programs. Operating out of five facilities throughout Wisconsin, the JCC provides the total community with a forum for open dialogue and offers inclusive wellness, education, and community services for members and guests of all backgrounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instruction • Complete all required training with Aquatics Director and/or Assistant Aquatics Director as needed., • Must be able to modify and offer alternatives to lesson objectives for participants., • Arrive on time both physically and mentally prepared to teach at least 10minutes prior to the start of each scheduled lesson., • Dress in appropriate Swim Instructor uniform., • Have lesson areas, including equipment, cones, and rope, set up prior to class and put away after class., • Be familiar and comfortable teaching ages 4-18years., • Be Familiar and comfortable with the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program., • Update availability seasonally using established methods., • Read e-mail communications regarding new lessons scheduled in a 48-hour time window., • Connect via e-mail to lesson families PRIOR to the first lesson to gather any necessary information., • Must track lessons taught on the reconciliation form and submit to the Assistant Aquatics Director bi-weekly., • Communicate with families when their lesson package is ending.
