Job Description Position Overview: Lifeguards are expert swimmers who ensure the safety for swimmers in the Lanza Activities Center pool. Lifeguards are trained in water safety, know how to initiate a rescue, remove a distressed swimmer safely, know first aid and are able to give artificial respiration, if necessary. Lifeguards also assure the pool deck and water are kept clean and free of debris throughout their shift. Lifeguards may also provide swim instruction, as assigned. Lifeguards are part time, work a regular schedule that may include holidays and weekends. Position Qualifications: High School/GED Diploma, required. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, required. Experience as a lifeguard, preferred. Swim Instructors are responsible for ensuring the success of swim lessons by: • Ensuring you and your team are set up for success at every lesson by preparing your class materials and reviewing your lesson themes, • Teaching 4 swimmers per class by going through a well-established and proven curriculum of water safety, swim and swimplay skills (6 swimmers in our infant, parent-and-me style lessons).
