The Housing Specialist is responsible for assisting homeless families in obtaining permanent housing. The Housing Specialist will be experienced with the housing process, is familiar with housing resources, is able to form relationships with landlords and brokers, inspect apartments, accompany clients to apartment viewings, and collaborate with the Department of Social Services (DSS) to link apartments and utilize rental subsidy programs. CHI is looking for a full-time Traveling Case Manager for all of our Suffolk County locations. You will be responsible for ensuring that all program participants are provided with the services necessary to promote personal and economic independence, to have skills required to obtain, maintain, and retain permanent housing, and are living in well-maintained units. This is accomplished by performing the following functions: • Adheres to and enforces program regulations, policies, and procedures. Ensures that all clients are receiving quality services that are following the program requirements., • Assists clients with Shelter Managers in developing an Independent Living Plan (ILP) by identifying needs and goals and evaluates client’s progress on short and long term goals., • Provides information, referrals, counseling, crisis intervention, direct service, and advocacy services for all clients when directed., • Develops and maintains a resource network for referrals as related to the needs of the individuals being served in supervised programs. RESPONSIBILITIES: • The Advocate will complete new client intakes., • Explain shelter rules and regulations to clients., • Conduct curfew checks, which includes walking outdoors to each unit., • Conduct Safety Checks., • Monitor the safety of the property., • The Advocate will address any issues of safety in unit, remove any dangerous items., • Assist with pantry distribution., • Assist with distribution of donations., • Turn over rooms for new clients., • Provide transportation., • Provide crisis intervention., • The Advocate will oversee compliance of rules, regulations, and policies of shelter., • Set and observe appropriate boundaries with clients; observe client confidentiality and HIPPA protocols., • Advocate for client needs., • Attend staff meetings, individual supervision, and trainings as required., • Collaborate with the Security to discuss and resolve client incidents., • Responsible for reading and understanding the Policy and Procedure Manual., • Required to read and respond to daily emails., • All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in Human Services or related field preferred. Knowledge of homeless population and DSS policies and regulations. Excellent organizational and time-management skills required. Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required. Valid and clean NYS Driver's License required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires sitting and standing for extended periods, as well as moderate lifting up to 10–15 pounds. The employee must also be able to go up and down stairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES • The Housekeeper will maintain the exterior of the property by assisting with trash pickup and removal, sweeping, glass cleaning., • Maintain the interior of the property by performing daily cleaning tasks, including removal and replacement of trash, vacuuming rugs, and washing windows and walls., • The Housekeeper will prepare rooms for occupancy, including a deep cleaning of room and bathroom., • Removal of personal belongings left behind by residents after they move out., • Daily disinfecting of the common areas, including but not limited to the staff break room, vending machines, front desk, time clock and elevators (in addition to any other assigned areas)., • The Housekeeper will wipe down and clean the elevator cars and doors daily., • Daily clean the staff bathrooms and offices., • Launder the agency provided resident sheets, shower curtains and towels., • Maintain a clean, well-stocked laundry area, notify supervisor as inventory needs reordering., • Notify the Property Manager of the need for repairs or replacement of equipment or furniture. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a hospital or hospitality setting. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required. Effective communication skills, speaking, listening, and writing.
