Job Description Position Summary The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all imported meat products received at the warehouse meet the company’s quality standards and comply with applicable U.S.–Mexico regulatory requirements. This role includes full inspection authority and brings additional warehouse supervisory responsibilities to ensure proper execution of receiving, storage, cross-dock, and handling operations. Primary Quality Inspection Responsibilities • Conduct 100% organoleptic inspections of imported meat products received at the El Paso warehouse, which includes opening each combo and utilizing temperature probes and other measurement instruments., • Perform random inspections of boxed shipments to verify compliance with quality specifications set by the originating plant and regulatory authorities., • Cross-check inspection results against official shipping, import, and quality documentation to verify product compliance., • Identify, document, and report non-conforming products; authorize product rejection in accordance with company receiving and quality policies., • Respond to quality incidents reported by production plants and suppliers, ensuring timely resolution and clear documentation of responsibility., • Apply established quality procedures to calculate shrink, damage, and loss percentages and generate required quality reports., • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, cold-chain integrity, and sanitary handling requirements at all times. Warehouse Supervision & Operational Responsibilities • Supervise warehouse activities related to receiving, cross-dock inspections, storage, labeling, re-stacking, and verification of imported meat products., • Provide day-to-day operational oversight to warehouse personnel, ensuring tasks are performed according to established procedures and quality standards., • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure shipments are processed accurately and within established timelines., • Verify proper handling, segregation, identification, and traceability of products, including lot control and temperature records., • Ensure warehouse operations comply with internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and applicable regulatory requirements (USDA, Customs, FDA/health authorities, and related agencies)., • Monitor warehouse cleanliness, organization, and food safety conditions; escalate risks or deviations as needed., • Confirm proper use of tools, equipment, and forklifts, while reporting training or certification gaps to management., • Support inventory accuracy by identifying discrepancies, damages, or losses during inspection and handling activities., • Assist in operational reporting related to receipts, quality incidents, shrink, and compliance metrics., • Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Food Science, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered., • 3–5 years of experience in quality inspection or food/meat product handling, preferably in warehouse or cold-storage environments., • Working knowledge of import/export operations and food safety regulations., • Ability to interpret quality specifications, inspection procedures, and regulatory documentation., • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and problem-solving ability., • Ability to lead and guide warehouse personnel in operational execution., • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Physical & Work Environment Requirements • Ability to work in refrigerated and cold-storage environments., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform inspections for extended periods., • Ability to lift or move materials as required by warehouse operations.
