Level B Industrial Maintenance Technician Job Type: Full-time Pay: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour Job Purpose The Level B Maintenance Technician (Lead Tech) plays a key role in maintaining and improving equipment performance across Quality Packaging operations. This position focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on horizontal and vertical form-fill-seal machines, shrink wrap tunnels, stretch wrappers, print-registered film wrappers, and related mechanical handling equipment. The role also includes facility and infrastructure maintenance, equipment prototyping, and limited customer support functions. Success in this position requires strong technical knowledge, proactive problem-solving, and a positive, team-focused attitude. Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on all packaging and material handling equipment., • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems., • Repair and fabricate parts through welding, brazing, and soldering when necessary., • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, manuals, and equipment drawings., • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, parts usage, and inspections., • Identify, source, and manage replacement parts, and update inventory accordingly., • Support prototype development and machine modification projects., • Inspect equipment, develop short- and long-term repair lists, and prioritize maintenance tasks., • Respond to maintenance service calls, including shared or previously initiated tasks., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards., • Occasionally provide support or guidance to less experienced technicians., • Support building maintenance and infrastructure repairs as needed., • Available to work weekends and travel occasionally as required. Job Contacts (Key Interfaces) • Facility and Operations Managers, • Maintenance Supervisor, • Warehouse and Office Staff, • External Contractors and Vendors, • Occasional Customer Support Interactions Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Technical Skills • Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting., • Strong understanding of high-voltage systems: 480V 3-phase, 220V 3/1-phase, and 110V 1-phase., • Familiarity with encoders, machine timing, and servo motor systems., • Working knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors, and PLC integration (photo eyes, proximity switches, etc.)., • Basic experience with logic software for machine diagnostics., • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)., • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Proven ability to work under pressure and resolve issues quickly to reduce downtime., • Capable of assessing machine conditions, identifying critical repairs, and planning preventive actions., • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, and travel when necessary. Preferred Qualifications & Traits Education & Experience • High School Diploma or GED required., • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance, ideally in a packaging or manufacturing environment., • Customer Service Mindset: Treat internal team members with professionalism and respect., • Flexibility: Ability to shift priorities based on business needs and respond to unexpected issues., • Self-Motivation: Works independently and takes initiative to maintain high standards of performance., • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, both verbal and written.
