Job Description Job Title: Recreational Operations Intern at ESF Camps & Pro Sports Programs Location: 401 East Fourth St. Building 20, Suite B, Bridgeport, PA 19405 Function: Operations & Logistics Position Objective/Purpose: We are currently seeking motivated, reliable, and hard-working team members who believe deeply in the organization’s mission and display strong organization and communication skills. The Recreational Operations Intern, a key member of ESF’s Operations Team, supports 15+ day camps, plus Pro Team Sports Camps located throughout PA, DE, NJ, NY, CT, FL, and MD. In addition to ensuring that supplies get delivered during the camp season (mid-June through mid-August), the Recreational Operations Intern provides logistical and operational support and event planning & execution to our year-round Aftercare and Enrichment Programs as well as setting up and breaking down our open houses, pre-camp trainings, and alumni events. Daily responsibilities include receiving, inputting, sorting, loading, and unloading ESF supplies as well as organizing stock, maintaining inventory, processing, packing, and shipping orders. A keen attention to detail is a must, as the Recreational Operations Intern inspects products for defects and reports damages as needed. Position Summary: As part of ESF’s Operations Team, a Recreational Operations Intern is responsible for providing logistical support across all ESF’s professional and school site programs through warehouse operations, inventory, shipping & receiving and event management. This person is expected to build positive relationships with fellow Operations Team members, members of other departments, and onsite staff. The role involves a combination of physical warehouse-related labor, office/computer work, event planning, and occasional events and deliveries to camp locations. Position Scope Factors: • The Recreational Operations Intern is employed on a seasonal basis, April/May through August/September, Monday through Friday., • March-April (1st 2 months): 20-40 hours per week., • May-August (middle 4 mos.): 30-40 hours per week., • September (final month): 30-40 hours per week., • Occasional weekend commitments and some flexibility with hours are possible., • There is an allowance for scheduling based on school year start and end dates., • Develop and maintain relationships across internal departments (Finance, Talent Operations, Marketing, Admissions and Customer Engagement) as well as with external third-party vendors., • Accurately process, package and ship orders, • Check, verify and fill out customer invoices., • Monitor incoming and outgoing shipments., • Receive, unload and place incoming inventory items appropriately., • Inspect products for damage; report as needed., • Organize stocks and maintain inventory; restock as needed., • Verify the quantity and description of materials received., • Ensure warehouse/equipment is maintained on a regular basis., • Safely operate all the necessary equipment in work area, • Follow all safety protocol and warehouse procedures., • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment., • Ensure daily departmental objectives and goals are accomplished., • Contribute ideas on ways to improve or optimize warehousing procedures. Experience Requirements • Previous or recreational operations, warehouse operations, or related experience preferred., • Previous experience with event planning and execution is preferred., • Good working knowledge of warehouse data systems and inventory management, • Proficient in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel is a plus., • Flexibility to work in multiple areas, including physical labor where needed., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, • Detail and results-oriented individual, with a positive attitude., • Must be a team player and able to work in a fast-paced environment., • Ability to focus on detailed information accurately., • Ability to operate hand trucks and other necessary warehouse equipment., • Prior experience working in an ESF camp or similar camp setting (preferred) Education Requirements • Must be an undergraduate student, graduate student, or college graduate with work experience and/or course work in sports management, recreation management, logistics, operations, event management or related fields. Reporting Relationship • Reports directly to and takes direction from the Supplies & Logistics Director, Operations Manager, and at times the Director of Programming Working Conditions and Physical Requirements • Ability to push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of 35 lbs. and climb stairs., • Good physical condition which enables candidate to execute all responsibilities associated with this position., • Ability to drive to ESF camp locations as needed.
