Job DescriptionJob Title: Chemical OperatorJob Description The Chemical Operator safely and efficiently supports general chemical manufacturing operations by handling materials, operating production equipment, and performing basic maintenance and repairs. This role requires strong attention to safety procedures, accurate measurement and calculation skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions while working with multiple variables in a standardized production environment. Responsibilities • Operate chemical production equipment in accordance with safety rules, operating procedures, and written instructions., • Read, understand, and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals to ensure safe and compliant operations., • Handle shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading materials, verifying documentation, and organizing inventory in designated areas., • Use forklifts and pallet jacks to move raw materials, intermediates, and finished products safely within the facility., • Apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions in a production environment., • Identify and address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations, escalating issues when necessary., • Maintain and repair basic equipment to support continuous and reliable operation of the production process., • Perform accurate measurements using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals to support batching, mixing, and packaging activities., • Compute weight, volume, ratios, percentages, and unit conversions to ensure correct formulation and handling of materials., • Support production tasks as needed, including preparing materials, monitoring process steps, and assisting team members to meet production goals., • Follow all safety, housekeeping, and quality standards to maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant work area.Essential Skills, • At least 5 years of general chemical manufacturing experience., • Proven ability to read and understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals., • Experience operating a forklift and pallet jack in an industrial or manufacturing environment., • Experience performing shipping and receiving tasks in a production or warehouse setting., • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions in written, oral, or diagram form., • Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations., • Ability to maintain and repair basic equipment used in chemical manufacturing., • Strong arithmetic skills in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals., • Ability to compute weight, volume, ratios, percentages, and perform unit conversions accurately.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience in a production environment handling chemicals or related materials., • Comfort working with industrial material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks., • Attention to detail and accuracy when following procedures and performing calculations., • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to written procedures and guidelines., • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a structured, process-driven environment.Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
