Title: UB Counselor - PT - Upward Bound 1 Department: TRiO Reports To: Director, TRIO Programs Position Type: Staff Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Trio Director, the Upward Bound Counselor provides academic, career, and educational counseling, as well as assistance with completing the college admissions and financial aid process. Title: UB Counselor - PT Department: TRiO Reports To: Director, TRIO Programs Position Type: Staff Position Summary: Under the leadership of the Trio Director, the Upward Bound Counselor provides academic, career, and educational counseling, as well as assistance with completing the college admissions and financial aid process. The counselor also provides motivational support and acts as an advocate for program participants. Other services coordinated by the UB Counselor include academic instruction, mentoring, and tutoring. The Upward Bound Counselor is responsible for the effective implementation and achievement of all goals, objectives, and standards associated with the Upward Bound Program as outlined by the US Department of Education. During the academic year, there are 26 to 28 sessions on Saturdays that run from 8:30 am until 2:30 pm. During the summer a six-week summer program is conducted, with four of those weeks being residential. Position Summary Under the leadership of the Director of Sexual Violence Response Direct Services, the Survivor Advocate will provide confidential and comprehensive survivor-focused services, resources and trauma-informed care to survivors of gender and power-based violence. This will include direct crisis intervention, crisis counseling, advocacy and support services; including explaining and exploring survivor's rights and options, in accordance with federal, state and local laws and regulations (civil and criminal), and campus policies. The incumbent will serve as a general resource, advocate and referral agent for students seeking sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking information and services. Additionally, the Survivor Advocate will provide round-the-clock, on-call crisis support year-round in a shared rotation amongst the direct services team and coordinate campus and community resources to support students who have experienced sexual assault, intimate partner violence and related abuse.
