American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Newark, New Jersey. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: OR - Operating Room, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/11/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 11, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • 14-suite OR serving pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric surgical patients, • Multi-specialty program including general, vascular, gynecologic, orthopedic, neurological, urologic, thoracic, and pediatric surgery; no eye surgery performed, • Extensive robotics program covering colorectal, GI, gynecologic, neuro, ortho, otolaryngologic, transoral (TORS), and urologic robotic procedures, • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), • On-call required: 1 weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday) and 2 eight-hour on-call shifts per week, • Holiday coverage required: must work 2 out of 3 assigned holidays, • Floating required within skillset without exception, • Epic EMR experience required; OR Manager (PICIS) also used, • Hospital-provided scrubsRequirements, • Active NJ or Compact RN license required, • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS, • CNOR certification preferred, • Minimum 1.5 years of OR RN experience required, • Scrubbing and circulating skills both required, • Proficiency in vascular procedures: AAA repair, AV fistula repair, carotid angioplasty, carotid artery stenting, carotid endarterectomy, and femoral popliteal bypass graft, • Proficiency in gynecologic procedures: abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy), bilateral tubal ligation, D&C, and laparoscopic-assisted gynecological procedures, • Proficiency in general surgery: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic-assisted procedures, thyroidectomy (partial/total), and Whipple procedure, • Proficiency in ortho/neuro procedures: arthroscopy, closed/open reduction of fractures, laminectomy/discectomy, and total joint replacement, • Proficiency in endoscopic procedures: bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD, and PEG tube placement/exchange, • Robotic surgery experience required across multiple specialties, • Epic EMR experience required, • Trauma Level I or II experience preferred, • Charge nurse experience preferred, • SSN and DOB required for consideration, • Two current professional references requiredAdditional Information, • Quaternary care academic medical center and regional referral hospital — one of the largest heart transplant programs in the U.S. and New Jersey's only Advanced Lung Disease and Transplant Program, • Part of RWJBarnabas Health, the largest integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, • Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment, • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • RTO requests must be submitted prior to offer; no RTO requests will be accommodated after an offer is made, • Candidates with minimal or no RTO requests and no holiday time off requests will be prioritized With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
