Job Description Job Title: 2nd Shift CNC Machinist Job Description This role is for a 2nd shift (1:00pm to 9:30pm) CNC Machinist in a large, fast-paced machine shop environment in Santa Ana, CA. You will set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and manual machines to support ongoing production, ensuring high-quality parts are produced to precise specifications. The position offers overtime opportunities and the potential for higher pay with demonstrated lead or advanced setup experience. Pay starts at $28 an hour. Responsibilities • Set up CNC lathes, CNC mills, manual machines, and inspection equipment for production jobs in a timely and responsive manner to support a production-paced environment., • Maintain and update setup procedures for all critical machining processes to ensure consistency and quality., • Work from blueprints, job routings, and tooling instructions to produce parts that meet close tolerances and detailed specifications., • Use computer skills to transfer programs to a variety of CNC machines and ensure correct program selection and loading., • Inspect parts to print, including both dimensional and visual requirements, using appropriate measuring tools and inspection methods., • Complete all required job documentation, including part measurements, inspection records, and shop floor paperwork., • Train and mentor less experienced machinists, with a particular focus on machine setup and proper operating procedures., • Run more than one machine simultaneously when cycle times and workload permit, while maintaining quality and efficiency., • Perform light setups as needed to support daily production requirements., • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes and CNC mills in a production environment., • Ability to perform light setups on CNC equipment and manual machines., • Experience working from blueprints, job routings, and tooling instructions to hold close tolerances., • Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers for accurate part inspection., • Ability to inspect parts to print, including dimensional and visual requirements., • Computer skills sufficient to transfer and load programs to various CNC machines., • Familiarity with CNC machining centers such as Brother and Haas machines., • Ability to write or edit CNC machine programs at the control as needed., • Strong documentation skills to accurately complete all required job and inspection paperwork., • Willingness to train and mentor less experienced machinists in setup and operation., • Experience with Mazak or similar CNC machining equipment is a plus., • Experience working with both CNC and manual machining operations., • Experience in a high-volume, production-paced machine shop environment., • Comfort running multiple machines when cycle time allows, while maintaining quality standards., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts.
