The Master Electrician will serve as the Responsible Representative of the business, holding full responsibility for the proper execution of each camera installation which includes trenching, setting the foundation hole for the camera pole, installation of conduit in the trench and the initial repair of the site to leave it the same way it was when they arrived. Once the pole is installed, the Master Electrician will oversee the installation and configuration of the camera equipment, pulling of wires, the termination of traffic phases and power in the traffic pole. They will supervise our team of Electricians and Electro Pole Foundation Installers with the support of a General Foreperson. Key Responsibilities and Duties Licensing, Compliance, and Authority • Serve as the officially designated Responsible Representative for the electrical contracting business in compliance with the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) administrative code and the New York State Department of State., • Personally supervise, direct, and take full responsibility for the manner in which all electrical work is performed by the company's employees., • Obtain all necessary permits from the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) and other governing agencies, ensuring that all applications for permits and certificates of electrical inspection bear the stamp of the official NYC Master Electrician Seal and a personal signature., • Ensure all electrical installations, alterations, and repairs strictly conform to the latest editions of the New York City Electrical Code (Title 27, Chapter 3 of the Administrative Code) and the National Electrical Code (NEC)., • Liaise directly with DOB inspectors, utility companies (e.g., Con Edison), and third-party inspection agencies to schedule and facilitate all required inspections and to ensure the timely closing of permits., • Maintain continuous compliance with all required business registrations, insurance requirements (General Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Disability), and licensing renewal mandates set forth by the NYC DOB and NY State., • Ensure that no electrical work is performed without the required permits and approvals. Technical and Operational Leadership • Design, plan, and layout complex electrical systems, including feeders, risers, branch circuits, switchgear, panelboards, and low-voltage systems (signaling, communication, alarm, and data transmission)., • Lead and manage project execution, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards., • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions in electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances up to 1000 volts and below., • Read and accurately interpret construction blueprints, schematics, specifications, and wiring diagrams., • Select, install, and terminate all wiring, conduit, electrical devices, and fixtures., • Oversee the testing and certification of all installed electrical systems to guarantee safe and proper operation., • Implement and enforce all OSHA and company-specific safety protocols, including mandatory worker safety training (e.g., OSHA 10-Hour construction course and fall-protection)., • Conduct on-site safety inspections and resolve any non-compliance issues immediately. Management and Administration • Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to a team of Journeyman Electricians, Apprentices, and other electrical personnel., • Coordinate electrical work with other trades, general contractors, and project stakeholders., • Manage material procurement, tool inventory, and equipment maintenance., • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including time logs, material use, inspection reports, and as-built drawings., • Attend project meetings and represent the company in all technical and code-compliance discussions. Required Qualifications License and Certifications (Mandatory) • Must possess a current, active, and unrestricted Master Electrician License issued by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB)., • Must be a member of the IBEW Local 3 union., • Must be willing and able to serve as the Responsible Representative for the employing electrical contracting business., • Valid Drivers License and clean driving record. Experience and Skills • Minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a licensed Master Electrician, preferably within New York City., • Expert-level knowledge of the NYC Electrical Code, NYC Administrative Code, and all relevant state and federal electrical codes, including the NEC., • Proven experience in managing and supervising electrical projects from design through final inspection and closeout., • Proven experience managing projects with public works or the utility industry, • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and modify complex electrical blueprints and specifications., • Excellent leadership, communication (verbal and written), and problem-solving skills., • Proficiency in all tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic methods applicable to the electrical trade. Work Environment and Physical Requirements • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments, including high and confined spaces., • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly., • Work may require periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling., • Compliance with all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements at all times. This is a remote position.
