Position Summary The Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator plays a critical role in protecting patient/client and staff safety across all WellSpace Health sites. This position supports the Director of Infection Prevention and Control and leads daily efforts to enforce infection control standards, respond to infection prevention and control events, and ensure compliance with CDC, OSHA, CDPH, and Joint Commission regulations. The Coordinator conducts site visits, leads inspections, monitors infection prevention activity performance and trends, and works closely with cross-functional teams to educate, implement, and improve prevention strategies. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role requiring strong initiative, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and regulatory excellence. Required Qualifications • Highschool diploma or GED required., • 2 years experience working in infection prevention and control related field preferred., • Practical knowledge of infection prevention and control, and/or public health., • Skills: Persuasion, verbal communication, building relationships, resolving conflict, coordination, listening, scheduling, teamwork, compliance, and the ability to represent the organization in a positive light are essential., • Must be able to read healthcare equipment manuals, technical procedures, and/or government regulations., • Self-motivation and ability to work under minimal supervision., • Works wells independently., • Creativity and problem-solving., • Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, and other Outlook 365 programs., • Commitment to HIPAA and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality., • Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions, hand hygiene., • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability. Essential Responsibilities • Educates and trains on the following, but not limited to hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, standard precautions, sharps injury and needlestick prevention, transmission-based precautions, cleaning & disinfection, the environment of care, food safety, high-level disinfection, healthcare equipment maintenance and sterilization procedures., • Assist with infection prevention and control projects., • Work with various departments to improve infection prevention and control adherence and performance., • Assists in data collection and provides input to minimize hazards., • Review new/revised OSHA regulations and accreditation standards and updates., • Prepare information and create presentations for assigned projects., • Verifies accuracy and completion of staff infection prevention and control training records., • Participates in workplace infection prevention and control inspections, audits, observations, and document follow-up and outcomes., • Monitors high-level disinfection and sterilization processes for adherence to protocols., • Assists in monitoring /assessing infection prevention and control hazards in the work area., • Facilitates and delivers presentations during orientations, and meetings as assigned., • Develops and maintains tracking tools for manufacturer instructions and patient care equipment disinfection protocols., • Conducts and trains managers and supervisors on Respiratory Protection (N95 fit testing)., • Attends educational in-services as appropriate., • Travels to all WellSpace Health Locations to support infection prevention and control efforts., • Performs additional duties as assigned. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care.
