GENERAL JOB INFORMATION Job Title: Managing Director, Ecobank France (EBI SA) Reports to: Group Executive, Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Location: Paris, France Direct Reports: Ecobank France Executive Team JOB PURPOSE The Managing Director of Ecobank France is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and commercial direction to Ecobank France. The role ensures that Ecobank France acts as a global gateway to Africa, building strong partnerships by scaling the Financial Institutions (FI) and Correspondent Banking business, expanding trade flows, growing the global markets solutions and driving sustainable growth for the Group. The MD will lead business and support functions and ensure alignment with Ecobank’s overall CIB strategy. JOB CONTEXT Ecobank France plays a central role in positioning the Group as Africa’s leading pan-African financial services provider with global reach. Operating under European and French regulatory environments, it serves as the Group’s platform for trade finance, structured transactions, global markets, and correspondent banking relationships with Financial Institutions. The MD is responsible for ensuring financial performance while maintaining strict regulatory compliance, strengthening the institution’s credibility in global markets, and leveraging Ecobank’s pan-African footprint to capture opportunities with corporates, financial institutions, and development finance institutions. This is a highly visible and influential leadership role that requires international experience, with French and broader Continental European Experience exposure being an advantage. It also demands demonstrable cultural agility and the ability to engage effectively at the highest levels with regulators, governments, and global institutions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Business and Financial performance • Provide strategic direction and leadership to drive profitability and sustainable growth across all business lines (Client Coverage, Global Markets, Trade, Cash Management, Loan Solutions, Cross Border Payments & Solutions, Investment Banking & Asset Management), • Oversee the financial performance of Ecobank France, ensuring achievement of revenue, profits, and ROE targets., • Expand and diversify revenue streams through new business development, global partnerships, and innovative financial solutions., • Strengthen Ecobank’s role as a hub for mobilizing capital into Africa., • Scale Correspondent Banking relationships with FIs to dominate trade and payment flows., • Drive expansion of risk management solutions and structured financing products, • Grow the advisory business into Africa and investments in African capital markets, • Ensure efficient balance sheet and liquidity management in line with Group and regulatory requirements. Customer Excellence • Position Ecobank France as the preferred banking partner for global corporates, financial institutions, DFIs, and organizations seeking access to Africa., • Ensure client-centricity in service delivery, product design, and relationship management., • Build strong, long-term relationships with global counterparties, correspondent banks, regulators, and strategic clients., • Position Ecobank France as the bank of choice for DFIs, bilateral institutions, diplomatic missions and European international affairs ministries for Africa-linked flows., • Champion customer feedback mechanisms to continuously enhance service quality and responsiveness. Leadership and people management • Provide visionary leadership to the Executive Committee, and the wider Ecobank France team., • Foster a high-performance, inclusive, and ethical culture across the institution., • Develop and implement effective succession planning and talent development programs., • Promote cross-border collaboration and alignment with Group businesses, ensuring the right skills and resources are deployed., • Inspire innovation, accountability, and professional excellence within the leadership team. Process, control and operational performance • Ensure robust governance, compliance, and control frameworks across Ecobank France., • Oversee adherence to European and French banking regulations, including AML/CFT, KYC, GDPR, and prudential requirements., • Work closely with Risk, Audit, Legal, and Compliance teams to safeguard institutional soundness., • Drive operational efficiency through technology, process automation, and global best practices., • Ensure disciplined management of credit, operational, market, and reputational risks. Strategic initiatives • Position Ecobank France as the gateway for Africa - European financial flows, • Lead the expansion of the FI business in Africa, including Correspondent Banking through French and other European partnerships, • Expand Ecobank’s Strategic Partners, develop strategic alliances, and increase syndication capabilities, • Dominate trade finance into and out of Africa with Ecobank France as the anchor hub, • Expand global markets offerings including structured products, risk management, and hedging solutions., • Strengthen Ecobank France’s positioning as the partner of choice for DFIs, diplomatic missions, and international institutions in Europe including the EU., • Champion innovation and digital transformation to enhance Ecobank’s France competitiveness., • Lead ESG, sustainability, and impact finance initiatives in alignment with global best practices., • Represent Ecobank France and the Group, if required, at global forums, strengthening the Group’s visibility, reputation, and advocacy role in Africa-focused finance. JOB PROFILE Experience & Qualification • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field., • MBA, Master’s degree, or professional certifications (CFA, ACT, etc.) preferred., • Minimum of 15 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, • International Banking experience is required with strong French and European banking knowledge, • Proven track record in managing multi-country businesses and complex stakeholder relationships., • Strong understanding of French and European regulatory frameworks., • Demonstrated experience in global markets, trade finance, structured products, investment banking and FI correspondent banking., • Multilingual proficiency (English and French essential).
