Head Modéliste / Atelier Lead – Couture Studio (Paris) Location: Paris Role: Full-time Salary: €90k–€110k per year depending on experience. An established couture dress brand specialising in corseted and highly embellished occasion pieces is seeking a Head Modéliste / Atelier Lead to lead the technical development of collections within a Paris sampling atelier. The role will play a central part in establishing and leading a small Paris atelier dedicated to the development of highly technical, embellished garments. Our designs are built around structured corsetry and highly embellished garments, requiring exceptional expertise in couture construction, pattern development, and the engineering of garments with significant embellishment. This role will oversee the full development process from sketch to prototype, ensuring garments achieve the highest standards of fit, structure, and finish. Responsibilities • Lead the Paris sampling atelier and manage the day-to-day technical development of collections, • Develop patterns and toiles for corseted dresses and highly embellished garments, • Execute advanced draping and couture pattern cutting, • Engineer garments to support heavy embellishment and embroidery while maintaining structure and fit, • Source and coordinate with freelance embroidery designers or specialist embroidery ateliers to develop embellishment concepts, swatches, and placement for collections, • Lead fittings and refine silhouettes to couture standards, • Work closely with the sample machinist during prototype construction, • Collaborate on embroidery placement and ensure compatibility with corseted structures, • Prepare patterns and technical documentation for production with our specialist atelier in India, • Ensure all samples meet couture-level standards of construction and finish, • Work with the founder to establish and organise the Paris sampling atelier, including studio setup and workflow, • Help define the atelier structure, equipment needs, and development processes Requirements • 10+ years experience as a Senior Modéliste / Pattern Maker within luxury or couture, • Proven expertise in corsetry construction and structured garments, • Strong experience developing heavily embellished or embroidered garments, • Advanced draping skills and ability to develop garments directly on the mannequin, • Experience leading fittings and managing the technical development of collections, • Ability to lead a small atelier environment and oversee sample development What we offer • The opportunity to lead the technical development of collections for an established couture occasionwear brand, • Creative collaboration on garments built around corsetry and intricate embellishment, • The opportunity to shape the working environment and technical processes of the atelier as it develops Salary: €90k–€110k per year depending on experience.
