Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home Location: Preston Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum Hours: Shift pattern including nights, weekends, and bank holidays About the Company This established children’s residential home provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment for young people aged 8-18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. About the Role We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Support Worker to lead shifts and provide high-quality care for our young people. You will support daily activities, education, and statutory meetings, ensuring a consistent, therapeutic approach. This role includes supervising and mentoring staff, maintaining high standards within the home, and safeguarding the welfare of all residents. Key Responsibilities • Lead shifts, supervise staff, and ensure consistent, high-quality care in line with regulations., • Support young people’s daily routines, education, therapy, and personal development., • Implement care plans, risk assessments, and LAC documentation, attending statutory meetings as required., • Safeguard young people, respond to challenging behaviours, and promote positive outcomes., • Build strong relationships with families, social workers, and external professionals., • Assist with household tasks, budgeting, and maintaining a safe, homely environment., • Contribute to staff induction, training, and professional development., • Complete accurate reports, records, and administrative duties., • Provide cover for management when required and participate in the on-call system. Person Specification / Requirements Qualifications • NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People (essential), • Supporting young people aged 8–18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties, • Leading shifts and supervising staff teams, • Completing reports and attending multi-agency meetings, • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, • Resilient, empathetic, and able to handle challenging behaviour, • Flexible, person-centred, and committed to safeguarding, • Ability to drive home transport (desirable)
