We are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across schools in the Rugby area, working with children and young people who have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role is ideal for someone with a passion for inclusion, strong rapport‑building skills, and a commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. About the Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across primary and secondary settings, working with learners who may present with: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs ADHD Learning difficulties Communication and sensory needs Support may be delivered 1:1 or in small groups, depending on pupil need and the setting. What You’ll Do Provide tailored learning and emotional support to pupils with SEN Support classroom activities under the guidance of the class teacher Help pupils regulate emotions and engagement using consistent, nurturing approaches Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and participation Support behaviour using relationship‑based and trauma‑aware strategies Assist with differentiated activities and structured routines Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral teams Essential Requirements Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (Adult & Child Workforce) You must hold a current Enhanced DBS, registered on the Update Service. SEN Experience or a Strong Desire to Work in SEN Experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable, particularly ASD or SEMH. Applications from individuals with strong transferable experience and a clear commitment to SEN are also welcomed. Strong Rapport‑Building Skills You should be confident building trust and emotional safety with pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning or engagement.
