Commercial Lead - M&E (Mechanical & Electrical)\n\nSunderland (North East Projects with Hybrid Flexibility)\n£100,000 + Comprehensive Benefits Package\n\nA leading building services and engineering contractor is seeking an experienced M&E Commercial Lead to head up the commercial function across major mechanical and electrical projects in the North East.\n\nWith a strong pipeline of secured work across sectors including healthcare, commercial, education, residential, and industrial developments, this is a key leadership role within a growing and highly respected organisation.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs Commercial Lead, you will take full responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple M&E projects, providing strategic leadership while ensuring robust cost control, risk management, and contractual compliance.\n\nYou will work closely with operational, pre-construction, and senior leadership teams to drive profitability and support the continued growth of the regional business.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLeading the commercial management of mechanical and electrical projects from pre-construction through to final account\n\nDeveloping and implementing commercial strategy across multiple projects\n\nOverseeing procurement of subcontractors and major supply chain packages\n\nManaging project budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting\n\nEnsuring effective contract administration under NEC, JCT, or bespoke contracts\n\nIdentifying, managing, and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities\n\nLeading, mentoring, and developing Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff\n\nSupporting tendering and pre-construction activities with commercial input\n\nActing as the senior commercial interface with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners\n\nDriving continuous improvement within commercial processes and governance\n\nAbout You\n\nYou will be a commercially astute leader with extensive experience in M&E or building services contracting.\n\nEssential:\n\nSignificant experience in a senior commercial role within M&E / building services\n\nStrong understanding of mechanical and electrical installations and project lifecycles\n\nProven track record managing the commercial delivery of high-value construction projects\n\nExcellent knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract\n\nStrong leadership experience managing commercial teams\n\nHighly developed negotiation, financial management, and reporting skills\n\nAbility to influence senior stakeholders and drive commercial performance\n\nDesirable:\n\nDegree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar\n\nProfessional membership (RICS or equivalent)\n\nExperience working on large or complex regional projects\n\nWhat's on Offer\n\n£100,000 salary\n\nCar allowance or company vehicle\n\nPerformance-related bonus\n\nPrivate healthcare\n\nPension scheme\n\nThis is a rare opportunity for an experienced M&E commercial professional to step into a strategic leadership role within a thriving and forward-thinking contractor.\n\nIf interested in further details please contact John Baker or Katherine Oxlade\n\n--- Fusion People are committed to promoting equal opportunities to people regardless of age, gender, religion, belief, race, sexuality or disability.
