About the Role We’re looking for a DevOps & Cloud Operations Engineer to take ownership of our CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, automation, and platform reliability — while also coordinating our on-premise infrastructure and IT suppliers. This is a hybrid role combining DevOps engineering, cloud operations, and light IT/infrastructure oversight, with progression opportunities. Our environment spans Azure, GCP, Microsoft 365, and an on-prem server environment managed by external providers. You will help ensure stability across all environments, coordinate upgrades and maintenance with suppliers, and strengthen our security and compliance posture. This is a hybrid position, with occasional travel required to our Warrington office to support on-prem infrastructure and supplier coordination. Note: In the first 3-6 months you'll spend more time on knowledge transfer, documentation, and supplier coordination as we transition DevOps in-house. These percentages reflect the ongoing steady-state split. Responsibilities DevOps Engineering (50%) Your primary focus. • Own and improve CI/CD pipelines for .NET, Angular, and Next.js applications (Bitbucket, Azure DevOps)., • Build and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)., • Develop and enhance deployment automation and environment consistency., • Maintain and optimise monitoring, alerting and logging., • Support operational reliability: incident response, environment stability, and performance improvements., • Lead cloud cost optimisation and usage reporting., • Contribute to DevOps strategy, tooling, and roadmap. Cloud, IT Operations & On-Prem Infrastructure Coordination (30%) Cloud & M365 Operations • Coordinate with our IT supplier for onboarding/offboarding, identity access, and M365 administration., • Manage software licensing (Bentley Synchro, Autodesk, JetBrains, etc.), • Over time, support the transition of M365 and device management (Intune/Endpoint Manager) from supplier - internal ownership., • Coordinate management of our critical on-premise server with external providers, ensuring uptime, maintenance scheduling, and clear communication., • Coordinate with multiple external suppliers responsible for:, • Software, cloud integration, and identity services, • Physical server hardware, monitoring, connectivity, and onsite infrastructure, • Ensure uptime, maintenance scheduling, upgrades, and incident response are clearly managed and communicated., • Escalate performance or stability issues and track them through to resolution., • Support planning for future on-prem or hybrid infrastructure upgrades. Security, Compliance & Audit Support (15%) • Support Cyber Essentials Plus compliance scheduled for early 2026 and yearly audits., • Contribute to ISO 27001 implementation and control operation (policies, risk registers, asset registers)., • Assist with vulnerability management, patch oversight, and secure configuration reviews., • Help ensure cloud + on-prem environments meet security standards. Documentation & Continuous Improvement (5%) • Maintain clear documentation for cloud environments, IT processes, and DevOps workflows., • Propose improvements to architecture, tooling, cost, and IT operations., • Participate in self-directed learning and supported certifications (Azure, GCP, Terraform, Security+, etc). Additional Notes • Occasional travel to our Warrington office is required, primarily to support on-prem infrastructure reviews and onsite supplier coordination. The role is otherwise hybrid/flexible. What Success Looks Like in 12 Months • You confidently run CI/CD, IaC, deployments, and routine DevOps operations., • You independently manage cloud environments and contribute to cost optimisation., • On-prem server stability and supplier coordination run smoothly with minimal escalation., • You support security audits and play a meaningful role in ISO27001 readiness., • You're the recognised internal owner of DevOps and Cloud Operations. Skills & Experience Essential • 2-5 years in DevOps, cloud engineering, sysadmin, or infrastructure roles., • Experience with Azure, GCP, or AWS., • Hands-on CI/CD pipeline experience., • Basic scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)., • Understanding of networking, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, or hybrid-cloud setups., • Interest in compliance (CE+, ISO 27001) and secure-by-design thinking., • Comfortable managing and coordinating with external suppliers/vendors., • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable • Terraform or equivalent IaC tools., • Microsoft 365 or Intune experience., • Monitoring/observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog)., • Prior exposure to on-prem or hybrid infrastructure environments.
