This is a newly available opportunity for a Work Allocation Executive to join a high‑performing legal practice group, supporting the effective allocation, development, and utilisation of legal talent. The role will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure the right people are assigned to the right work at the right time, balancing commercial performance with individual development and client service. The Role Reporting into a senior resourcing and talent lead, the Work Allocation Executive will play a pivotal role in managing capacity, workflow, and development across a large, specialist legal group. The role is both strategic and operational, requiring strong judgement, excellent communication skills, and a commercial mindset. You will be responsible for overseeing resourcing processes, supporting utilisation and profitability objectives, and partnering with stakeholders to anticipate demand, manage peaks and troughs, and optimise deployment of skills across the team. Key Responsibilities • Support the ongoing development and refinement of resourcing processes, tools, and data to enable transparent and effective work allocation., • Manage and maintain capacity trackers and utilisation data, providing insights to support planning and decision‑making., • Facilitate resourcing and capacity discussions with fee earners at all levels, ensuring workloads are balanced, fair, and aligned to development goals., • Work closely with Partners and team leaders to allocate work based on capability, availability, experience, profitability, and career aspirations., • Monitor individual and group utilisation, producing reports and supporting leadership in driving financial discipline and good resourcing behaviours., • Identify skills, experience gaps, and development opportunities within the team, feeding into longer‑term workforce and talent planning., • Proactively plan for periods of increased or reduced demand, managing leave, absence, and secondments to ensure continuity of client service., • Support the integration and onboarding of new joiners, meeting regularly with individuals to ensure early engagement and effective utilisation., • Coordinate internal and client secondments, ensuring smooth delivery and positive experiences for all parties., • Build strong, trusted relationships across the legal group and wider firm, acting as a key point of contact for resourcing‑related matters. About You You will bring a professional, confident approach, with the ability to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders. You will be highly organised, detail‑focused, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, professional services environment. The ideal candidate will have: • Experience in resourcing, work allocation, or capacity management within a legal, professional services, or corporate setting., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Partners, senior leaders, and junior colleagues., • Strong commercial awareness and a clear understanding of utilisation, profitability, and client service drivers., • A solutions‑focused mindset, with the confidence to challenge constructively and suggest improvements., • Resilience, flexibility, and the ability to manage competing priorities calmly and effectively.
