Learning Support Assistant\n\nProspero Teaching is seeking a patient and motivated Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Southampton area. This long‑term role involves providing additional classroom support to students who may need help with learning, confidence, emotional regulation, or accessing the curriculum.\n\nYou will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils throughout the school day, offering reassurance, guidance, and tailored assistance where required. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys helping young people overcome barriers to learning in a structured and supportive environment.\n\nThis role is well suited to candidates with experience in support roles, care, youth work, SEN settings, or graduates looking to gain meaningful school‑based experience before moving into teaching, psychology, or related pathways.\n\nThe Role:\n\nProvide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils who require extra assistance\nSupport pupils with classroom activities, lessons, and daily routines\nHelp students stay focused, calm, and engaged in learning\nEncourage confidence, independence, and positive behaviour\nAssist teachers with implementing learning and support strategies\nSupport emotional regulation and social development\nContribute to a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment\n\nIdeal Candidate:\n\nExperience working with children or vulnerable individuals\nCalm, patient, and confident supporting varying needs\nStrong communication and teamwork skills\nAble to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils\nAdaptable and reliable in a school setting\nGraduates in psychology, education, or child‑related subjects encouraged to apply\n\nContract Details:\n\nPosition: Learning Support Assistant\nLocation: Southampton\nStart Date: ASAP\nHours: Full‑time, term‑time\nPay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour\nContract: Long‑term\n\nExperience, Training & Safeguarding:\n\nExperience with children desirable\nSEN experience beneficial but not essential\nSafeguarding training can be provided\n\nEligibility:\n\nRight to work in the UK\nEnhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)\nTwo relevant references\n\nWhat Prospero Teaching Offers:\n\nFree accredited CPD, including safeguarding & behaviour management\nOngoing support from a dedicated consultant\nLong‑term opportunities with potential progression\nA rewarding role supporting pupils who benefit from additional guidanceIf you're looking for a meaningful support role in Southampton, we'd love to hear from you.\n\nApply now with your up‑to‑date CV
