These explain the job role and the type of person we're looking for. \n Location: St Joseph's School Duration: Permanent,Full Time \n PVG Membership \n Where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour) \n The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment \n About the role \n To lead and manage the affairs of the school enabling the delivery of quality education through the appropriate involvement of the pupils, staff, parents, multi- disciplinary agencies and the communities it serves. This will be done in accordance with the authority’s strategic plan, the school’s/service’s improvement/service plans, the national improvement framework drivers and outcomes, in accordance with current legislation and within national and local agreements. \n The role of the Headteacher is to promote high quality learning and teaching to secure improved educational outcomes for the benefit of pupils and the community, under the direction of the local Council. Headteachers have a corporate responsibility to contribute to an agenda of ongoing improvement in their school and across their Council area. \n The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:\n • Appropriate teaching qualification\n, • Full GTC (Scotland) Registration in the appropriate subject/sector\n, • PVG scheme membership\n, • Under Section 28 of the Education (Scotland) Act 2016, it is a pre-requisite for all teachers taking up their first permanent Head Teacher position to hold the Standard for Headship. If this is applicable to you, and you do not already hold this, you must be willing and able to achieve the Standard for Headship within 30 months of taking up the role.\nThe postholder is able to demonstrate:\n, • Standard for Full Registration\n, • Standard for Continued Professional Learning\n, • Standard for Middle Level Leadership\n, • Standard for Headship\n, • provide leadership, good management and strategic direction to the school\n, • promote high expectations and standards through the provision of professional advice, reviewing professional needs and performance, and supporting continuous professional development of colleagues\n, • take responsibility for providing strategic leadership for curriculum development, learning and teaching and meeting learners’ needs\n, • take overall responsibility for improvement planning and quality assurance\n, • act as adviser to the Parent Council and to participate in the selection and appointment of the staff of the school\n, • work in partnership with parents, other professionals, agencies and other schools; and\n, • take overall responsibility for the management of health, safety and well-being\n, • meet and maintain the professional standards which are set by GTCS Code of Conduct and participate in the Scheme of Professional. Update in accordance with the requirements set by GTCS\n, • Evidence of career long professional learning and participation in professional update\n, • Evidence of experience in successfully leading and managing change and securing school improvement\n, • Demonstrable experience in a senior leadership post in an appropriate setting\n, • Experience of senior management responsibility in appropriate educational environment\n, • Knowledge of the cycle of school improvement planning and resource allocation\n, • Knowledge of the operation of effective self-evaluation for improvement, quality improvement processes and procedures and the production of Standards & Quality reports\n, • Clear working knowledge of current initiatives and priorities in education\n, • Knowledge and understanding of the provisions of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 2003\n, • Effective management of human resourcing matters including industrial/employee relations and health and safety whilst continually improving performance of self and others in order to achieve excellence in service delivery and organisational capability\n, • Strategic thinking, organisational and motivational skills\n, • High order interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communication with colleagues, pupils, parents/carers and partners\n, • Ability to promote and deliver equality of opportunity to staff and service users\n, • have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 (all jobs)\n, • looked after young people, those that are in continuing care or are a care leaver up to the age of 29 (all jobs)\n, • are aged 16-24 and live in Aberdeen City or have been to an Aberdeen City Council school and are applying for a Modern Apprenticeship (except Trades apprenticeships)\n, • have done a Foundation Apprenticeship with Aberdeen City Council and are applying for any apprenticeships relevant to the area in which they did their Foundation Apprenticeship\n
