Role Purpose The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant and commercially controlled delivery of designated mechanical projects or work packages within the Energy Department. The role provides day-to-day leadership of site delivery, programme, suppliers, supervisors and field teams, ensuring that project outputs are delivered in line with client requirements, contractual obligations, MJ Quinn standards and relevant health, safety, quality and environmental expectations .The postholder will act as a key operational link between the client, project team, commercial function, suppliers and senior management, providing clear reporting, early risk identification and proactive resolution of project issues . Project Delivery and Programme Cont • rolManage day-to-day delivery of designated mechanical projects or assigned work packages, ensuring works are planned, coordinated and delivered safely, right first time and to the required standa, • rd.Take operational responsibility for site methodology, sequencing, short-term planning, progress monitoring and programme performan, • ce.Review project information, drawings and client-issued designs, identifying buildability issues, technical queries, access constraints and delivery risks at the earliest opportuni, • ty.Coordinate site activity with supervisors, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors and other trades to maintain progress and minimise disruption to live environmen, • ts.Ensure project documentation, records, permits, quality checks and handover information are complete, accurate and maintained in line with business requiremen ts. 1. Commercial and Contractual Con • trolWork closely with the commercial team to monitor project cost, value, change, risk and forecast posit, • ion.Identify and escalate risks that may impact budget, margin, programme, supplier costs or overhead recov, • ery.Support the timely provision of information required for valuations, variations, compensation events, early warnings, procurement updates and client reporting, where applica, • ble.Maintain a clear understanding of project scope, deliverables and client requirements to reduce the risk of uncontrolled change or unrecorded additional wo rks. 1. Health, Safety, Quality and Enviro • nmentPromote and enforce a Safety First and Right First Time culture across all site operat, • ions.Ensure works are delivered in accordance with applicable legislation, MJ Quinn policies, client site rules, RAMS, permits and project-specific cont, • rols.Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, quality failures and service deterioration trends competently, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are recorded and closed, • out.Carry out regular site inspections, quality checks and audits to verify workmanship, compliance, housekeeping and safe systems of, • work.Raise, manage and close non-conformance reports, ensuring actions are allocated, pursued and reso lved. 1. Supplier, Supervisor and Field Team Mana • gementLead and coordinate supervisors, field engineers, suppliers and subcontracted resources engaged on the designated pr, • oject.Allocate tasks clearly, confirm expectations, track progress and ensure resources are aligned to programme require, • ments.Monitor supplier performance against MJ Quinn standards, client requirements, safety expectations, quality outputs and agreed delivery miles, • tones.Support, motivate and develop team members by setting clear standards, removing blockers and promoting professional behav iours. Essential Experience, Skills and Beh • avioursStrong mechanical building services background with the ability to understand, coordinate and manage mechanical systems installation on complex pr, • ojects.Experience delivering mechanical projects within live, regulated or operationally sensitive environments; healthcare project delivery experience from a mechanical perspective is strongly advant, • ageous.Strong planning, organisation, programme management and monitoring capa, • bility.Commercial awareness, with experience supporting cost reporting, risk identification, change control and budget perfo, • rmance.Experience working with NEC3 and/or NEC4 forms of co, • ntract.Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with clients, senior managers, supervisors, engineers, suppliers and subcontr, • actors.High standard of written and verbal communication, numeracy and computer li, • teracy.Able to prioritise workload, work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage stakeholder expect, • ations.Strong focus on safety, quality, compliance, teamwork and continuous impro, • vement.Adaptable, professional and resilient, with a practical approach to problem s, • olving.Legal right to work in, • the UK.Full UK driving licence held continuously for 12 months or more, with no more than 6, • points.Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check where required due to the nature of client sites v isited.
