As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Bid Writer to join our dynamic Pre-Construction team, helping to shape and deliver high-quality, compelling submissions that secure strategic opportunities and long-term frameworks. Role Overview As a Bid Writer, you will take ownership of the written content for complex bids, tenders, and framework submissions. You will play a key role in articulating our value proposition — capturing the technical expertise of our teams and translating it into persuasive, client-focused narratives. This position would ideally suit a skilled communicator from a journalism, copywriting, or communications background, with proven experience in construction, civils, or infrastructure bidding. You will thrive on turning technical detail into compelling, customer-focused content that differentiates us in a competitive market. Key Responsibilities • Lead the writing and development of high-quality, engaging bid responses, capability statements, and supporting documentation., • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts, project managers, and technical teams to gather insights and information., • Understand client drivers, needs, and evaluation criteria to tailor responses that resonate and align with project objectives., • Produce clear, concise, and persuasive content that showcases technical expertise, safety record, innovation, and value., • Develop and maintain a library of standard responses, case studies, and supporting collateral., • Support storyboarding, win-theme development, and content strategy during bid kick-offs and reviews., • Ensure all written submissions are compliant, accurate, and presented to a professional standard., • Contribute to post-bid reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, and lessons learned sessions. Skills & Experience Essential • Proven experience as a Bid Writer within the civils, construction, or infrastructure sectors., • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to turn complex technical input into clear, persuasive narratives., • Strong understanding of public and private sector tendering processes, particularly for frameworks and major contracts., • Excellent interviewing and communication skills, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts., • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines., • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of structure, tone, and consistency. Desirable • Background in journalism, copywriting, or communications., • Experience with the Shipley method or other structured bid development methodologies., • Knowledge of the rail or civils engineering environment., • APMP accreditation or equivalent., • Experience managing bid AI platforms, bid libraries, and an appreciation of graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator.
