Our technology optimises thousands of batteries and other devices in the customers' homes, enabling them to time their usage to consume power at times of high renewable penetration (and cheap prices), and then export power back to the grid at critical times - letting them outbid energy generators and earn potentially >£50 in an afternoon. The Amber Electric product team develops and supports: • Home automation integrations (to batteries, hot water systems and pool pumps, with EVs coming soon) that control electricity usage in response to pricing and renewable availability, • Mobile & Web apps for customers to monitor and manage their energy usage, • A pricing and billing engine for real time energy pricing The tech stack is React Native mobile app, some React web frontends, and a Serverless Lambda backend on AWS. About OneView Commerce Retailers with thousands of shops have had two options, and neither is good. Web-native platforms move fast but were never built for a shop floor. Legacy store systems were built for the shop floor but take a year to change anything. OneView Commerce is the third option: a headless commerce platform for physical retail that lets the world's largest retailers innovate just as quickly as the smaller ones. We ship store experiences that deploy fast out of the box, and we give retailers the freedom to build their own on top of a headless transaction engine engineered for the physical store rather than the browser. Our customers are global retailers who build on OneView because it lets them keep moving: new journeys, new channels, and new store formats ship continuously rather than waiting on the next multi-year programme. Position Summary OneView is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take on the harder half of what a delivery team builds. The platform serves over a hundred thousand users across global retail estates, on terminals that have to keep taking payments when the connection drops and reconcile perfectly when it comes back. That is where the difficulty lives, and it is the work this role gets. Reporting to the VP of Engineering and working in a Scrum team alongside a Lead Software Engineer, you will design and build complex features and integrations end to end, from very little direction. Senior here means three things concretely. You take the problem nobody has scoped yet and come back with something defensible. You lead reviews of other people's work and leave the code better than the review found it. And you contribute to what the team chooses: the methods, the libraries, the tooling, argued on evidence rather than preference. You will mentor a Software Engineer, usually one at a time, and the measure is whether they got better rather than whether their tickets got closed. This is the rung below Lead Software Engineer and a deliberate step towards it, so the parts of that job you want more of are available to you. The Lead Software Engineer owns the team's standard, its improvement agenda, and its technical direction, and you are the person they will lean on most to shape all three. The Core responsibility of the Playout Controller is to manage the transmission of ‘Live’ complex events, as well as to provide schedule management, output monitoring and first line recovery for any Sky hosted channels. The management of ‘live’ complex events includes, for example: broadcasts where the break structure is variable, the duration of the event is unpredictable or where the timings of two subsequent events may overlap. Schedule management includes the preparation, checking and updating of automation schedules delivered into the area to ensure discrepancies are identified before the output is affected. It also includes the alteration of “live” automation schedules due to changing editorial or commercial requirements. For both the preparation and management of the automation schedules, a high degree of attention to detail and adherence to agreed process is necessary to avoid potential impact to the channel output. Through monitoring of the channel outputs the Controller is responsible for the scheduled content being delivered to the distribution platforms without defect or degradation. Direct “eyeball” monitoring of the channel output is supported and enhanced through the use of automated fault detection and alarming which the Controller must be fully capable of interpreting and interrogating. In the case of any fault or deviation from the required output it is the Controller’s responsibility to minimise impact to the viewing public either through restoration of service or by fault management. Knowledge of the playout infrastructure and agreed best practices for recovery are essential in performing this function effectively. The Controller is skilled in the management of both server-based content and “live” content including complex live events. The Controller will also be responsible for effective training of others, contributing to the integration of new systems and services. The Controller will prioritise incidents and escalate effectively, taking financial, reputational and stakeholder concerns into account. What You’ll Do • Schedule Preparation - performing required manual and automated tasks on the playout schedules to identify potential errors and known faults and ensure readiness for broadcast, • Live schedule management – editing of live automation schedule to alter content or timings as required, • Live schedule monitoring – monitoring the output of channels to confirm and maintain fault-free playout, • Regulatory Knowledge – knowledge of Ofcom regulations and Sky policies, • Fault Identification – immediate identification of any loss or degradation of the channel outputs, as well as loss of encryption or PIN protection, • Fault recovery – use of system resilience or schedule editing to recover from channel loss or degradation, • Fault management – use of on-screen messages, voice-overs, or other messaging to keep customers informed when a fault is not immediately recoverable, • Escalation – efficient communication to 2nd line support teams and operational management, • Editorial Knowledge – knowledge of Sky’s programming and promotional strategies., • Logging & Reporting – accurately recording any faults, changes, or other deviations from the originally scheduled content, • Information Management – accurately passing on information to colleagues or operational management to ensure channel continuity, • Communication – concise and accurate verbal and written communication, professional and courteous at all times, • Training – passing on knowledge and experience of workflows, systems and procedures as required. We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Production Manager to take responsibility for the successful technical delivery of live events from initial client brief through to project completion. Working across the full 360° production cycle, this role combines technical expertise, project management, commercial awareness and client service to ensure events are planned, resourced and delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest professional standards across lighting, video, audio, rigging and power requirements. Take organisational ownership of projects from initial enquiry and technical brief through to onsite delivery and final project close-out Interpret client and production requirements and develop appropriate technical solutions across multiple disciplines Lead the technical planning and coordination of events, ensuring all production requirements are identified, understood and achievable Develop and put in place production schedules, technical plans, equipment requirements, crew requirements and supplier requirements, using inhouse resources whenever possible Maintain clear project documentation, using our inhouse systems, ensuring information is accurate, current and communicated to relevant stakeholders Ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, budget, programme and quality expectations Ensure projects are planned and delivered in accordance with company health and safety procedures and relevant legislation by producing and sharing the appropriate RAMS, risk assessments, method statements and any other client required documentation Work across audio, lighting, video, rigging, power, staging and associated technical systems, with sufficient technical understanding to coordinate specialist teams effectively Review and develop appropriate technical designs, production drawings, equipment specifications and system requirements to deliver show requirements and customer expectations Work with Heads of Discipline and technical specialists to develop appropriate technical solutions that are realistic, practical and suitable for the venue and event environment and support any technical integration between the different disciplines Prepare and manage project budgets, quotations and technical costings as requested Monitor project expenditure, committed costs and changes to scope throughout the project. Identify and communicate variations, additional requirements and potential commercial exposure. Gain appropriate approval for changes to project scope or expenditure where necessary Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients and the production team, managing expectations where necessary Represent the company by building strong, professional relationships based on trust, responsiveness and technical credibility. Where appropriate, attend client, production and technical meetings/events Take a senior leadership role in the delivery of events onsite Coordinate technical teams and suppliers during build, rehearsals, show operation and breakdown Act as a senior escalation point for technical or operational problems Coordinate communication between technical disciplines and wider production teams Maintain a calm, professional and solutions-focused approach during challenging or time-critical situations Ensure agreed technical standards and client requirements are maintained throughout the event Lead or support onsite technical meetings, briefings and production reviews as required At least 3 years’ experience in technical production management within a commercial AV, live events or event production environment Strong understanding of multiple technical disciplines including audio, lighting, video, rigging, power and associated production systems Experience managing the full project lifecycle from initial brief through to onsite delivery and close-out Strong project management, planning and organisational skills. Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, quotations, suppliers and project costs Excellent client and stakeholder management skills. Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into practical production solutions Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines simultaneously Experience managing technical teams, freelancers and external suppliers Strong understanding of event health and safety requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, time-critical live event environment High level of attention to detail combined with the ability to maintain an overview of the wider project Proficient in relevant production, project management and technical documentation systems Right to work in the UK required Success in this role will be demonstrated through the consistent delivery of technically successful, safe and commercially well-managed events, strong client relationships together with effective collaboration across the business #J-18808-Ljbffr
