External / Roofing Surveyor\n\nLeeds - Manchester – You’ll need to be based around the M62 Corridor\n\n£35,000 - £45,000 per annum plus company vehicle and benefits\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nOn-Site Surveying & Data Collection\n\nCarry out detailed roof surveys across commercial, industrial, and residential projects.\n\t\nMeasure roof dimensions, drainage points, outlets, perimeters, falls, upstands, and penetrations with accuracy.\n\t\nIdentify existing build-ups, verify deck condition, and assess requirements for tapered insulation or flat board.\n\t\nCapture photographic evidence and produce clear survey notes to support the design process.\n\t\nAssess risks relating to access, working at height and site constraints.\n\t\nIdentify suitable tapered insulation approaches (e.g., PIR, Rockwool, hybrid systems).\n\t\nDetermine constraints such as U-value requirements, minimum falls, and compliance with BS 6229 and manufacturer guidelines.\n\t\nRecommend where tapered gutters, sumps, or additional design features may be required.\n\t\nLiaise with contractors/manufacturers to understand project requirements, sequencing and installation preferences.\n\nDesign Collaboration\n\nProvide precise survey data to the internal design team to allow production of accurate tapered schemes (CAD/PDF).\n\t\nClarify technical queries and ensure survey findings align with proposed build-ups.\n\t\nSupport the design team with revisions where site conditions differ from drawings or tender information.\n\nCustomer & Stakeholder Interaction\n\nAct as a technical representative for the business during surveys.\n\t\nCommunicate effectively with contractors, installers, consultants, and manufacturers.\n\t\nProvide on-site guidance on tapered insulation best practice and drainage optimisation.\n\t\nRepresent the company professionally and support commercial decision-making where required.\n\nReporting & Compliance\n\nProduce clear and concise survey reports within agreed timescales.\n\t\nEnsure all survey work aligns with relevant standards (BS 6229, Part L, fire requirements, etc.).\n\t\nMaintain accurate records of site visits, access arrangements, and risk assessments.\n\t\nSupport project tracking and ensure information is fed into CRM or internal systems.\n\nSkills, Experience & Competencies\n\nEssential\n\nStrong understanding of flat roofing systems (single-ply, liquid, bituminous, warm roof build-ups, etc.).\n\t\nExperience in tapered insulation (PIR, mineral wool, hybrid).\n\t\nComfortable surveying roofs at height with appropriate training/PPE.\n\t\nExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.\n\t\nStrong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\t\nFull UK driving licence.\n\nDesirable\n\nPrevious experience in a roofing surveyor, estimator, or technical advisor role.\n\t\nKnowledge of system manufacturers.\n\t\nCSCS card or equivalent site qualification.\n\t\nThermal and U-value understanding.\n\nKey Attributes\n\nProfessional, reliable, and confident representing the business on site.\n\t\nAble to work independently and manage a varied site schedule.\n\t\nSolution-focused with a practical approach to resolving technical issues.\n\t\nStrong time-management and organisation skills.\n\t\nProactive mindset with a willingness to learn tapered design principles in depth.\n\nBenefits\n\nTraining and development in tapered design, surveying, and product systems.\n\t\nOpportunities to work with leading manufacturers in the roofing industry.\n\t\nCompany pension, holiday entitlement, and progression opportunities
