Role: Site Manager Direct Reports: Sub-Contract labour resource and ASL site teams Reports To: Head of Contracts Job Function: Primarily office based with regular site attendance. Responsible for overseeing site installation activities, ensuring the effective day to day running of projects, and securing the successful completion of contracts in line with current legislation and best practice guidelines. The role includes full supervision of the site workforce and labour operations. Job Duties: • Site Surveys — Accurately measure and survey existing structures, supplying clear, formatted measurement data to the ASL Design/Detailing department., • Pre‑Start Visits — Attend site prior to commencement to check access, working areas, datum levels, and setting‑out profile lines., • RAMS & Audits — Create and maintain RAMS and conduct site audits in line with the Company’s Safety-First initiative., • Site Briefings — Deliver site inductions, team meetings, and toolbox talks as required., • Site Management — Manage and monitor all site activities within budget and programme, escalating concerns to the appropriate Manager., • Sub‑Trade Oversight — Oversee sub‑trades such as painters to ensure compliance with project requirements., • Project Close‑Out — Support Contract Managers in closing out site works, including supervising snagging visits and, where necessary, completing snagging tasks with the appropriate team., • Record Keeping — Maintain comprehensive site records, files, and photographic evidence of completed works., • Daily Reporting — Complete daily diary entries using the standard template, reporting progress, labour, issues, and deviations from plan., • Report Writing — Produce clear, concise reports with sufficient detail to support future commercial discussions., • NCR Management — Raise NCRs when required and notify contracts manager., • Resource Management — Manage site resources and review/sign off timesheets for employees and subcontractors., • Cost Control — Challenge costs where appropriate to support successful project delivery within budget again working closely with contracts manager and QA., • Cross‑Department Support — Provide information throughout the project lifecycle to support the accounts team and liaise with other departments., • Meetings — Attend site and management meetings as required., • Team Development — Provide training, coaching, and support to improve performance and develop team capability. Skills & Qualifications: • Steelwork Competencies — Relevant skills and training in steelwork, including Crane Supervisor (minimum), SSSTS (minimum), CSCS Gold Card, IPAF, and PASMA., • H&S Knowledge — Strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements., • Plant & Equipment Knowledge — Excellent understanding of construction plant and equipment used in steelwork activities., • Attention to Detail — Ability to inspect and quality‑check installed work with accuracy., • Problem Solving — Competent in problem solving, planning, and decision‑making., • Technical Drawings — Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings., • Leadership — Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct teams., • Resource Prioritisation — Ability to allocate resources effectively to meet project requirements., • Communication — Strong verbal, written, and negotiation skills., • Organisation — Excellent organisational and follow‑up skills., • IT Skills — Basic IT skills, including email, Word, and spreadsheets., • First Aid Certificate (desirable but not essential), • Flexible working approach Working Environment: Working outdoors with physical activity required.
