    Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Job summary Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking three highly motivated, visionary, and business-focused leaders to take on the newly created roles of Divisional Managing Director, leading one of our three Clinical Divisions: 1. Neighborhood Care, 2. Medicine and Emergency Care, 3. Surgery, Women's and Children's This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of care delivery across a diverse and complex population. As a senior leader, you will drive a purposeful and transformational agenda within our Divisions and will have a key focus on delivery of our performance improvement agenda including urgent and emergency care improvement, elective recovery & community integration and diagnostics, while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered services. You will work directly with our chief Operating Officer and alongside the wider Executive Team to design and execute Trust-wide strategies that deliver meaningful change and outstanding patient outcomes. This role is open to candidates from clinical, medical, or operational backgrounds who meet the criteria and share our commitment to excellence, inclusion, and innovation. Main duties of the job The Divisional Managing Director will be the single accountable officer for the Division, and will lead the Divisional quadrumvirate - comprising the Divisional Director of Nursing (DDoN), Divisional Director of Operations (DDoP), and Divisional Clinical Director (DCD). You will be responsible for the strategic, operational, and clinical delivery of high-quality, patient-centred services. As a key member of the Trust's executive team, you will provide dynamic leadership and governance across all areas of the Division, ensuring that quality, safety, patient experience, performance, financial sustainability, and workforce objectives are consistently met. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of services, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, clinical governance standards, and performance targets, in line with national requirements and Trust strategy. You will bring a deep understanding of clinical, operational, and financial priorities, and foster a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement. As a champion for your staff and services, you will ensure equity, respect, and visibility across the Division. As a senior leader within the Trust, you will contribute to corporate leadership and may be required to take responsibility for Trust-wide issues beyond your immediate remit to support shared organizational objectives. Person Specification Education and Qualification Essential • Masters level qualification in related subject / working towards or portfolio of evidence working at that level., • Evidence of attendance on a leadership programme, • Evidence of continues professional development Desirable • Additional Postgraduate management qualification, • Evidence of large-scale service improvement and/or Quality Improvement qualifications such as QSIR Experience and Knowledge Skills and Ability Essential, • Strategic and operational leadership skills, • Understanding of the work and priorities of an NHS foundation trust and an excellent grasp of current policy direction in respect of all its health and social care services, • Solid understanding of all governance issues, • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of patient safety and quality, • Knowledge and understanding of NHS regulatory bodies, • Highly developed operational management skills, • Highly developed operational performance improvement skills, • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships across and between a variety of diverse interest groups, and the ability to communicate effectively where there may be significant barriers to acceptance, • Proven visionary leadership / ability to set out a clear vision for services, to persuade others of the benefits and requirements of the plan for the future, and overcome obstacles, • Strong sense of commitment to openness, honesty and integrity in undertaking the role, • High level of work organisation, self - motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude • Ability to anticipate and plan for change, • Demonstrate an ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams, • Ability to present all work in a clear and concise manner appropriate to the target audience, • Influencing/negotiating skills, • Excellent interpersonal skills, • Patient focused and service orientated, • Advances IT skills, • Workforce planning, recruitment and retention, • Patient and staff focussed, • Committed to the positive leadership and development of both clinical and operational staff, • Professional maturity, • Able to work collaboratively and strategically, • Car driver, or ability to travel and access all services, • Travelling between working at different locations, locally, regionally and nationally will be required, • Able to work out of hours, across seven day working as required and the willingness to work anywhere in the Trust and to travel, on occasions, within the region and nationally
