This role has a strong focus on manufacturing, cost drivers and gross margin ownership. Based in Cheltenham, it combines hands-on costing with commercial insight, working closely with production to improve visibility and performance. \n Client Details \n This role sits within a well-established global engineering group in the industrial and manufacturing sector, known for its focus on operational excellence and a collaborative, professional environment. \n Description \n\n • Take ownership of works order variances, understanding key drivers across materials, labour and overhead\n, • Analyse and report on gross margin performance, providing clear insight into production and cost efficiencies\n, • Support month-end reporting, including cost analysis and P&L insight for key areas of the business\n, • Partner closely with manufacturing to improve cost visibility and identify opportunities to reduce waste\n, • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting, with a focus on production costs and performance trends\n, • Support the ongoing development and automation of reporting alongside the data team\n, • Assist with inventory and stock analysis, including obsolescence reviews\n\n Profile \n \n\n • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment, with a strong grasp of cost drivers and processes\n, • Proven understanding of works order variances and cost/margin analysis\n, • Strong Excel and data analysis skills, with confidence handling large data sets\n, • Experience working with ERP systems (JD Edwards experience beneficial)\n, • Comfortable working closely with operations and non-finance stakeholders\n, • Solid understanding of standard costing principles\n, • Part-qualified or qualified (CIMA preferred), or qualified by experience\n, • Proactive, inquisitive mindset with strong attention to detail\n\n Job Offer \n\n • Competitive salary of £45,000-£55,000 plus bonus potential\n, • Hybrid working (typically 3 days onsite in Cheltenham)\n, • Strong benefits package including private healthcare and 27 days holiday\n, • Opportunity to step into a visible, commercially focused role within a global engineering group\n, • Exposure to manufacturing operations and ongoing investment in systems and reporting\n
