We’re Pip & Nut. (& You could be too). We make the best nut butters & snacks you can get your paws on. Beginning Pip started Pip & Nut in 2015. After whizzing up nut butters at home (using natural ingredients & nothing else) she was onto something tasty. Her friends agreed. Her family agreed, and soon the people of London’s Maltby Street Market agreed. The word - and the nut butter - started spreading. Fast. We leapt onto the shelves of Selfridges. Then Sainsbury’s. Then Wholefoods & Ocado. Then Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-Op, Tesc- you get it. Middle We’re in every UK supermarket, but we’re not done yet (that’s why we need you). We want to keep growing while showing people that tasty food can be good for you & the planet. We’re a B Corp after all. That’s not just a pretty badge. Better business is an all-day, everyday mindset. Next We’re nimble: we’re the number 2 & fastest growing nut butter brand in the UK. Number 1, we’re on your tail. We’re tenacious: next up, we’re taking over snacking. We’re a B Corp & proud: we’re doing all of that while looking after people & the planet. 10% of our profits go to ___ to support organisations tackling hunger & loneliness in communities. The squirrels are taking over. Are you in? What you’ll be doing: Ready, steady, cook develop our next tasty thing! We’re on a mission to become the leading nut brand in the UK, and on a 12 month, fixed-term contract, as Pip & Nut’s Product Developer, you’ll be helping us do just that. We’re looking for a proactive, creative & organised person with experience in product development to join Team Product and report into our Senior NPD Manager. You’ll be taking new products from an early idea to an on-shelf masterpiece, managing timelines, following processes & leading project teams to make good stuff happen. That good stuff will mean you’ll be getting picky with our ingredients, packaging & existing recipes and working with our Product Technologist to make sure everything we make meets our ‘unputdownable-y, one more biteable-y, can’t stop, won’t stop-ably’ tasty standards. From initial ideation to keeping up quality, you’ll be a curious squirrel (member of team Pip & Nut) with an eye on the detail & a want to learn more. You’ll solve problems, keep an eye out for challenges & clearly communicate opportunities while working cross functionally with our internal team and external partners. The number one thing? In a nutshell, you’ll be: • Improving & innovating - working on existing & new foodie creations., • A project managing pro who keeps us on track from kick-off to launch, & beyond. You’ll be making, and sticking to, timelines for new nutty projects, checking in on progress across our different teams and keeping everyone in loop about the risks, opportunities & other important updates they need to know., • Painting a picture of the shelves & their shoppers to make sure we have clear market benchmarks & all the important info needed to lead ideas in the right direction., • Setting the standards & goals for new products, then checking what we make is meeting them., • Getting hands-on in the kitchen, whipping up new recipes you’ve developed on excel, then building out product costs and key nutritional information when it’s time for the next step., • A taste testing ticker-off-er. You’ll brief our manufacturers with new recipes & check what they’re creating is up to scratch., • Sourcing & scoping the best stuff for the job. You’ll work with our Operations team to source ingredients that meet our top nut standards and make sure any onboarding, trials & approvals go smoothly (silky smoothly)., • Spooning, spreading, snacking & sampling. You’ll set Quality Assurance Standards (QAS) for new creations & get picky with our Product Technologist through routine quality checks that make sure everything’s tasting as tasty as it should be., • A piece of the packaging puzzle. Helping translate, or update, the foodie detail on our packaging. Things we’re looking for (skills & credentials): • Product Development prowess with a minimum of 1 years practical, industry experience developing food. Ideally, you’ve worked with manufacturing partners before too., • The credentials. A BSc degree/ MS/ PHD / Vocational training, preferably in food science, product development, technology, or nutrition., • NPD know how. You get The NPD Stage Gate process, or any other similar process management systems., • A project pro & timeline tracker who’s brought together different teams & departments to hit deadlines. We’d love it if you also had some kind of Project Management training, like Agile or other., • A problem-solver who makes stuff happen. We’re looking for a proactive person who loves finding solutions, working towards tangible goals and getting a beady-eye in the detail., • A confident communicator who’s comfortable building relationships with our manufacturing partners and working across our team at The Nest., • A Microsoft Office-r who can use PowerPoint to present new ideas, Word for cooking up trial briefs and Excel for important analyses & admin. If this is the role for you and you meet many, but not all, of our asks we still want to hear from you! If there is anything we can do to help you to apply, email . *Source: Harvard Business Review Our Purpose: Help people love food, that loves them & the planet. Our Values: We don’t just focus on what we’re doing (we do a lot), but how we’re doing it. That big ‘how’ makes Pip & Nut unique. It gives us our edge. We call it Squirrel Energy. Squirrel Energy is at the centre of everything we do. Inside & outside The Nest. It’s what we value in our individual squirrels & how we want to be seen as a whole. Our four values get into the nutty gritty of what squirrel energy is. Have a read: • All Paws Together: While we may be individual creatures, our team spirit is infectious., • Curious by Nature: Ears pricked at all times ready to discover something about ourselves, our shoppers, our products & the environment around us., • Make Every Nut Count: Us squirrels will find creative NO, INGENIOUS! Ways to get stuff done., • Take a Leap: For us, the ability to leap from one tree to another on branches that bend & flex is about being bold, agile & adaptable. Other good stuff? Loads actually. From Day 1 you’ll get: • 25 days holiday plus our “Squirrel Holidays”, • Your birthday off, • 12:30pm finishes on Fridays in August, • AND we hibernate for Christmas and shut down so we get a proper rest, • 3 volunteering days a year to give back to your local community., • Flexible hours & work: we have flexi-time and you can work from home 2 days per week., • Four weeks where you can work anywhere in the world (Mauritius anyone?), • A decent pension contribution (with an option to invest in sustainable funds)., • £500 per year to spend on learning something new., • Private health care (Vitality), dental insurance, critical illness & life insurance to keep you ticking over from DAY 1!, • Free breakfast in the Nest, a no desk-lunch policy and the bit you’ve been looking for, more nut butter than you can shake your tail at. Hooray., • 36 hours working per week: 9am – 5.30pm (Mon-Thu) & an early finish on Fridays at 4pm (yippee!), • A great office, in a great part of town, with an even greater team (that’s a fact). Oh nuts! It might seem obvious but there are a lot of nuts at The Nest. We're often testing, trialing or generally nibbling so if you have a severe nut allergy, please have a think about whether The Nest is the best place for you to be. Drop us a message if you need some more info. Chat GPT? We get it. Job applications are tricky. AI platforms, like Chat GPT can be helpful, but pretty please with peanuts on top don't copy & paste an answer for your application. We have beady-eyes & will not accept anything that's obviously AI generated. We want to know the real you, not a robot. You've got this! Now…what are you waiting for?
